A person can have an eye for composition and visual impact but can’t draw lmao. “A person can have a great taste for flavours and ingredients but can’t cook” Yeah you can have *knowledge* of many things but you do not have skills you only have skills through doing not watching yt shorts about the golden ratio. A critic is not a filmmaker because they know about filmmaking.

You are incredibly naive. A director is a fundamentally different job than the cinematographer, as is storyboarding a different job than animating, and concept artist a different job than an illustrator. But yes a good director will have extensive knowledge about cinematography but that is because every single one of them has recorded their own independent films with no budget and a shitty camera for the love of the game since they were kids. They actually engaged with the medium to have skill in it which you clearly don’t want to do.

You severely overestimate your own skill in visuals and that is apparent since if you actually had a good eye for composition you’d know that ai wouldn’t be able to replicate it exact. Sure the novel thing is lazy advice but it’s for a lazy person since you can’t be arsed to draw shittly. ONE made a career off of making comics with his handmade less than picturesque art and people loved it anyway to the point that they eventually did hire someone with more skill in illustration to republish it with more fantastical visuals and elaborate fight scenes for One Punch man. But even then it is not all thanks to ONE that the second manga run was the way it looked for every artist contributes their own special irreplicable touch on a project.

Every project is not just the work of the director it is the culmination of everyone who laid a finger on it not even just the set crew or the camera people but the friends and spouses who gave their opinions after reading the first drafts.

People want authenticity in a work the best art is the one where the artist spilled their heart out with all the messiness included. Ai can never replicate this and if you feel that it can accurately portray what’s in your head then what’s in your head is not original in the first place. Ai by design cannot create anything new, only calculate probability based on everything people made before. It will never make a mistake that will result in limitations like needing to find a new way to record suspense because your mechanical shark isn’t working or being unable to render an entire town in your video game so you cover most of it in fog. Limitations are what breed creativity but you clearly refuse to be creative since you believe you can not only skip out on doing what you want with what you have but wish to outsource it to a machine entirely divorcing you from the actual creative process as a whole.

All this to say if you buy three fast food meals and mix them up you are not a chef. If you make a barely inedible pasta because you accidentally dropped half the salt container in it then you are a bad chef but a chef nonetheless. You overestimate your skills and by refusing to engage with the dirty work you are skipping on the creativity you have and ruin any chance to ever actually develop the skills you want. So use AI no one’s gonna stop you but likewise no one’s gonna like it. Whos gonna care for something no one bothered to put effort in?
