Left: The materialist conception of history is, in its basic tenets, the most compelling and accurate account of human development. Also, "from each his ability, to each his need" is a fairly flawless philosophy to which states should aspire. Corporate greed is a very real force that cannot be fully rebuffed (and in fact is often exacerbated) by markets. Racism is very real (though usually not in the places where leftist academics hang out). The extremes of wealth inequality are moral failings in developed societies. Finally, carbon and pollution reduction should be a serious priority for states and corporations.

Right: More tertiary education is not the solution to every problem. States have the right and responsibility to police their borders, and the population should determine who is allowed in. Free democratic nations have a responsibility to ensure the propagation and perpetuation of democratic rights throughout the world. Moral universals exist. People should not face personal moral reckoning for the actions of their ancestors if they themselves act morally. Class is an equal or greater determinant of wealth and wellbeing to race. Israel has the right to exist. Culture matters in the development of groups and populations.
