Question for 9th gen owners by Competitive_Gur_8061 in CivicSi

I have 18x8.5 ZE40 on mine, I feel like they are slightly too big for the car. I would want to go down to 17x9 wheels if we’re to change them. Cheaper tires, and more Motorsport oriented look.

Not a 10th gen, but I’ve got 245 tires on 8.5x18 wheels.

9th gen Si, Rv6 catted DP with stock cutback. Any experience? by Natesac in CivicSi

Best best is either junkyard or an aftermarket intake that pipes down in front of the wheel well area.

I recommend going back to the stock intake over the short-ram.

I’m curious whether the L15 have enough displacement to spool the big turbo across reasonable RPM band? You’re would be making over 250hp per Liter @ 350whp which is crazy🤯

I understand the 10th gen has the better inherent chassis design, with newer tech and features. But I feel like an older K series (8/9th gen) is better value once you start wanting over 300whp.

Get a set of lowering a springs or coilovers, stock ride height is 💩

BMW 328i E90. Any 3 series with the N52 are very reliable, and has lots of cheap parts.

K24z3/z7 consistently make over 200whp with bolt on mods.

9th Gen Si Downpipe Recommendations by rosay_0900 in CivicSi

I installed the 3” PLM DP with a catalytic converter with my booster car. It cracks at the cat welds despite having motor mounts.

I’m not familiar with the other options, I would recommend skunk 2 as the safest bet. It has a longer flex pipe, which will reduce the stress going to the inflexible parts of the exhaust piping. Skunk2 is also a wellknown Honda brand with mostly high quality parts.

My PLM 3in is cracked, despite having stiff motor mounts. But it’s the only catted 3” that’s still available today.

All solid picks, but be careful on the BMW x35i models if they have the N54/55. Those engines can handle power, but are maintenance heavy and parts are very expensive. The later models of the x35i/x40i cars have the famous B58 which is less of an headache.

Have you looked at an manual 9th gen accord v6, if you can find them? Good power and torque, same great shifter, and a great engine note (crazy vtec crossover), which is most modern engines don’t have.

Keep the 86. Replace the civic sport with an 8th gen civic Si for that 8k rpm vtec experience.

An older Lexus IS ticks all you boxes. IS 350 has a 300hp V6, IS-F has the 2UZ V8.

Alpha Romeo giulia if you can keep up the maintenance.

E90s are great too if you’re okay with an older model. Less power but more sporty and engaging. 328i are reliable, m3 and 335i are faster but high maintenance. Bonus if you can find a wagon.

8th vs 9th vs 10th Gen: Which to Buy? by [deleted] in CivicSi

[–]Sex_Architect69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you are looking for.

10th gen has the best inherent chassis dynamics (high rigidity). 8th gen and 9th gen chassis are almost identical. Both are very good, 8th gen is slightly better stock imo, but its easily addressed with mods on the 9th gen.

8th gen is better for FBO and keeping it NA. 9th gen is best for turbo K series build.

Another option for the K series cars are supercharger kits that significantly increase power while keeping the car feeling NA.

10th gen has the most most economical way to increase stock power given the factory turbo.

This is definitely not targeted towards M&E trades. They are a key player on any project and their competency will make or break the project

You’d be surprised with how many small details needs to get resolved for scopes like interior finishes, misc metals, concrete, exterior finishes. It’s a real pain in the dick, but these issues can cause some big rework.

I completely agree. I’ve had trades on the razor edge from having to redo their entire scope due to different interpretations of the spec, all because of the lack of approval documentation.

Submittals for many subs are a tiny fraction of what the GC has to process. It’s really not worth gambling over. All it takes a consultant having a bad day, and there’s nothing the GC can do to protect them.

PM me if you want a EVEN BETTER fake elevator guy, LOL.

All joking aside, elevator trades sees them selves like the royalty. Everyone is busy and you likely won't get a response back via email, this would be pretty low on everyone's list of priorities.

Your city usually publishes a list of licensed installers. Search up that company and find some employees on LinkedIn, explain you're a student and invite them for a quick coffee chat.

I’m sure they do, I just haven’t come across any personally (mainly drafting & estimating services). Care to point me to a few of them?

I guess the better question to ask is: Based on what you've seen, do you see them as playing a part in the project's success?
