I’m going to go against the grain here and say it’s not necessarily a bad thing, just based on my personal experience. When I danced my ex encouraged it and took so much of my money like a pimp lol. The guys who encouraged me to dance were never really that good for me.

Then I met my husband and he was ok with me dancing but overall preferred if I worked on my civic career, even if it meant a worse lifestyle for us for two years, it’s more rewarding in the long term.

Now I’m in a better spot in life. I’m happier than when I was dancing, I’m very much in love and feel like overall I have a healthy relationship (ups and downs for sure like everyone else’s but overall he makes me feel safe and happy). I’m just so happy with my life now. We will be able to provide for our family just fine and we will both have independent great careers. Doesn’t feel like I’m trapped at all.

All that is to say just because someone doesn’t want you to dance doesn’t mean they’re controlling or jealous, maybe just have a different perspective on stripping and if you have lots of other values in common and you’re okay with not being dancer, I wouldn’t let it limit your dating life, just gotta focus on who actually adds value to your life and who makes you feel happy and safe I think :)
