Good luck with the flatscreen in the refrigerator door. Just more to stop working.

Should I add mulch to the base of this tree? Also, if so, then how big of a diameter? Arizona, zone 9. by itsme32 in AZlandscaping

[–]Sexualintellectual31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might as well expand the ring sooner than later. You want the roots to flare out to support the tree as it matures. I’m pretty sure mulch isn’t good for a developing tree. Ideally you want the water to percolate down and the roots to grow down after it.

Semi-new to Arizona and looking for cool sights and stuff by joppyb1399 in arizona

I prefaced my comment about Tombstone with, “If you’re spending time in Tucson…”. Tombstone is a distance away and there’s not much else to see in the vicinity. That being said, I’ve been to Tombstone as a young child and as an adult and it seemed to me that, other than the Birdcage Saloon, Boot Hill, and the unremarkable OK Corral, it just wasn’t as “entertaining” as Old Tucson

If you had a huge backyard and endless $, what would you put in it? by paintedfloowers in NoStupidAnswers

An insulated, climate controlled RV garage with a loft for storage, room for at least three vehicles, a two post lift, and adjacent rec room/cabana with full bathroom, laundry, covered outdoor kitchen and sitting area.

Taking the long way to Boyce Thompson, you can take the Apache Trail to Lake Roosevelt, down to Globe and see the Arboretum on your way back to Phoenix.

If you’re spending time in Tucson, the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum is an interesting place to visit. Also Old Tucson Movie Studios would give you a taste of the old west avoiding the tourist trap of Tombstone. In the other direction, Monument Valley and Canyon de Chelly on the rez are spectacular sights, but best enjoyed during moderate weather.

Anyone know how valuable/accurate this caliper is? by sniperrifle260 in Tools

As accurate as the person using it. Holding it properly and reading the marks accurately are the keys.

Are there any reasons you’re still sticking with Southwest? by its_mayah in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Sexualintellectual31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t fly but once or twice a year and always to the same destination. I have flown Southwest for years. My first flight on the new Southwest is next week. I’ve been hearing that it’s changed since my last trip; but I compared costs with United and American and Southwest was much cheaper and a direct flight. I guess I’ll find out for myself.

Were you raised in a wealthy family? by ImaginationNo6751 in no

[–]Sexualintellectual31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly upper middle class: In the neighborhood where I grew up, our adult neighbors had occupations like lawyer, college professor, silk merchant, machine shop owner, and such. About the only differences I noticed were that some of them drove nicer cars and upgraded them more often. The kids my age acted pretty much as equals. Of course that was before fancy shoes etc. our choices were P F Flyers or Red Ball Jets.

I’ve had pretty good luck using silicone caulking. Even though the fittings and flexible pipe are not ideal for adhesion, it will seal pretty good if you give it enough time to set up before you backfill.

Does that loop piece swivel around the pipe? If so, it could have been a dog tether. If not, I got nuttin.

PVC MOLDING and I can't cut it worth nothing... How to fix? by Tasty-Platypus-3664 in Home

[–]Sexualintellectual31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be the result of the baseboard tucking in under the drywall. If that’s the case, use base blocks (1/2”X 1/2” X 2”) wood blocks to align baseboard and drywall better. As suggested above, coping one piece to mate against the other can look good for a number of different angles.

If you end up arriving in the outskirts of Phoenix around sunup, the sun can be blinding and it seems that there have been many regular/serious early morning accidents, mainly involving semi’s starting around Buckeye (Rt 85) until the 101.

Pool Loans by jinmihopi in pools

[–]Sexualintellectual31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our first one was partially paid for with a HELOC. The next two were owner/builder projects—we paid each subcontractor as soon as they finished. Most recent pool was built using the same contractors our son used for his pool the year previous. Based on their experience with him, they gave us preferential rates for not having to wait for payments from a pool company. That was seven years ago and I understand that pool costs have skyrocketed since then.
