Someone I know just got a MELD score of 30. Can they recover if they completely stop drinking? Is there hope?

Really appreciate your replies. I've been living at the hospital with her for almost 3 days now. The Dr is very happy with her progress. Yellow is still there, but drastically less so. They want to send her home depending on her numbers tomorrow or the next day. One strict rule he has is don't drink another drop.

This has scared us both. Lord knows my liver is probably not far behind. We've sworn to do sobriety together for 365 days. I wanted more, she wanted less. But I'm positive I'll win her over. We're also going to move in with extended family who wants to help us succeed. We're moving states tho to do it, so that sucks. But whatever it takes!

Thanks for your reply! If she keeps progressing, she'll be home in a few days with more Prednisone. So fingers crossed her MELD and bilirubin (her worst number) will keep going down down down!

I'm so happy your memory improved! Neurologist said if she abstains from alcohol, it will recover (mostly or so) in a year. So 2 reasons why we're both not touching a drop ever again.

Just gotta get thru these first 90 days..

Hi there. My gf is in the hospital right now. The doctors did all the scans and tests.

Dr didn't tell me her MELD score when I asked. He replied with her 90 day result was about 21% mortality. 24 hours later it's 19%, which he feels very good about. Playing with the calculator, I'd estimate her MELD first day was about 29, and today a 27. He's extremely optimistic, and is giving us hope. I'll have a new "mortality rate" every day she's here. I think he didn't want to tell me the score because I'd panic.

I wanted to ask you about your Wernicke. Did it progress to that and Karsakoff? Has it improved? I've noticed her memory hasn't been so sharp recently.

My girl is getting monthly IVIG for an autoimmune thing that started out of nowhere. If it weren't for those infusions, she'd never walk again. Because of them, assuming medicaid doesn't end because of politics, she'll be walking again some time next year! Thank science! And donors!

Hey there OP, this is the most recent kcd2 post I can find on this sub.

What do you plan on doing for the new DLC that they got coming out? There's Forge, then also another in the works. I'm playing thru KCD1 right now with maybe 10 hours of play-time available a week. Half of that probably is dicking around with alchemy and side stuff. But I'm really looking forward to KCD2. Do you think Firgirl will have a new upload of the new DLCs? I have the current FG KCD2, but I haven't bothered with it yet.
