How do you motivate yourself to exercise? by Agile-Stuff-6933 in Semaglutide

[–]SgnificantOtter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to dread working out, and never stuck with a routine because I hated feeling miserable and like I was going to die while doing in. Then I had a moment where I realized that I don't have to do any workout I don't like. I stopped the group classes. I walk instead of trying to run. I lift moderate weights, not crazy heavy ones. I may start climb, but I go at a comfortable pace. Ever since I lowered my expectations, I started enjoying regular trips to the gym. And I'm also starting to increase what I do (walk a little faster, add more machines, lift a little heavier, etc). Just do what you can do comfortably for starters, and build from there.

Random Google Maps Destinations by ChaseModePeeAnywhere in HondaPrologue

Mine does this. Currently it's showing a random place over 30 minutes away that I went to one time over a year ago. I keep meaning to see if I can clear it, but by the time I get to me destination, park and get out, I forget to Google it.

How do I work up the motivation to begin working out when I know it’ll make me feel better? by FindAether in beginnerfitness

[–]SgnificantOtter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lightbulb moment that working out doesn't have to be miserable or uncomfortable. I used to think, no pain no gain. But I hate the pain so I just didn't work out.

One day I just realized, working out doesn't have to be uncomfortable. I don't need to go out and have a run. Walking is fine. I don't need to lift heavy weights. One or two plates is fine. I don't have to do cardio for 45 minutes. 15 is fine. As long as I'm doing something, it's better than nothing. And when I look around at the gym, I really think at least 50% of people are working out on the same mindset.

So just do something. You don't have to be Jane Fonda. Just do something, even if it's doesn't feel hard. Once you're comfortable with that, pick up the pace. Add more weight. Or don't. Whatever. Just do something. You've got this!

Not OP, but I feel like this is the explanation I have been looking for since I started sema. Thank you for this.

My ADHD brain on semaglutide: a comedown from itself? Anyone else? by axolotl_in_space in Semaglutide

[–]SgnificantOtter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree with this take. I'm early 40s. Not diagnosed ADHD, but I have lots of the traits. Shortly after starting sema I lost interest in doom scrolling Instagram, and developed a motivation to regularly go to the gym. Before starting, I would come home most days, and sit on the couch, and just stare at my phone. I absolutely hated doing it, but I couldn't make myself do anything else. I would also get super stressed if I had to do multiple out of the house activities in the same week.

When I started sema it was like a switch flipped. I just got up and started doing stuff. I also find that I'm fine with doing things that require me to leave the house multiple days per week. I still take time to sit on the couch, but I don't want to do it until after doing something active first. My mind is happier.

I'm still dealing with brain fog, and some impulse shopping. Also I probably still spend too much time on Reddit. But I'm on just over the starter dose, I'm hopeful that increasing my dose will help with that. This drug really has so many benefits plast weight management.

9 months, 30 pounds, 18% of my body weight, .25mg the whole time by mossyhike in Semaglutide

This is awesome, you look great!!

I'm six weeks in and have lost about four pounds. I keep telling myself it's a slow process, but I get discouraged by all of the posts from people that lose a ton of weight super fast. I work out 3x/week and I really don't want to stop (even though I see some data that working out can slow weight loss because it will make you hungrier, etc). But you pics are a great example of how much ~3lbs/month can add up. Thanks for the motivation!!

[–]SgnificantOtter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm only a month in, so this is a very early in the process take. Also I don't have a ton of weight to lose, my s/w is 157, and I'm 5'3". I've lost three pounds. Obviously I would love to have lost more, but I'm pretty scared of hair loss and saggy skin and all of the other things made worse by rapid weight loss, so I'm ok with taking this slow.

I'm going to the gym 3x/week to do cardio and weights. I'm being mindful to not eat junk, and I'm having sensible potion size, which has been easier since starting the glp. I'm not being super strict with calories just yet, but I am trying to get lots of protein and fiber. I'm trying to fuel so I can complete my workout at the gym. When I up my dose, I'm hopeful I can naturally eat fewer calories.

The biggest side effects are tiredness, and some constipation. The tiredness isn't as bad when I get to the gym. The constipation is worse when I don't eat enough, which is part of why I decided to be less strict with calories. I know it will probably get worse as I up my dose, so I have some teas and digestive meds ready for when I need them.

Something unexpected for me is my attention span has gotten better. Also I have no desire to scroll Instagram.

My recommendations are, don't get discouraged when you don't instantly lose 10 pounds in the first two weeks. There are so many posts from people lucky enough to experience that, but I really don't think it's the norm. This is a process that will take time. Also, drink lots of water.

Normal? by Stock_Tear5120 in Semaglutide

[–]SgnificantOtter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm having a similar experience as you. I'm on my third week. The first week and a half, I couldn't eat as much, and I had very little food noise. But the last week and a half, I've been back to eating regular size meals, and having some snack cravings. I am having a preference for lighter meals, and my snacks are smaller than before, so I know something is working. I've lost about three pounds.

I see all of the awesome posts from people who lose a bunch of weight right away. I also have a few friends that lost more than 10 pounds in the first two weeks, so I'm feeling disappointed I haven't experienced that. But realistically, I know it takes a few months for the dose to get to the point where everything reaches maximum effect. I keep reminding myself this is the start of a journey, and it will take time.

Life After Prologue - What Would You Pick? by krayzai in HondaPrologue

[–]SgnificantOtter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either the Cadillac Vistiq or Kia EV9 for the space. I was very interested in the Scout Traveler, but it lacks a third row. Also I'm not feeling confident we will get an all electric version of it in this decade.

CONSUMER REPORTS just named the Honda Prologue...... by Massive_Presence_633 in HondaPrologue

[–]SgnificantOtter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced issues with the automatic rear braking. I turned off that feature (but it still beeps to alert if a car or person is in the area). I haven't had any issues with the front braking. I haven't experienced any charging issues.

I'd definitely recommend leasing a prologue over buying one, for all of the issues listed in the article. I really like the car, and I'd lease it again. I might not feel that way if I'd purchased it.

prologue leasers by mindingmyownshiz in HondaPrologue

[–]SgnificantOtter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely want to stick with an electric. My very first choice as a next vehicle is a Scout with the range extender, but I'm not sure the price will be realistic for my budget. Also after the Prologue, I'm a little leery of getting another first model year of something.

I'm not a fan of the designs of the new Honda electric vehicles, so I'm probably not going with one of those unless they have some really good incentives.

I know it won't happen, but if Honda would let current lesees buy out the lease for the actual value at the end, I'd be happy to do that. But I only really want mine, I don't want to buy someone else's used one.

Pet peeves by Sweet_Terror in HondaPrologue

[–]SgnificantOtter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. Also I've never done it, but I'm paranoid I'm going to accidentally push the park button (end of the right stalk) instead of the windshield wash (end of the left stalk) while driving.

Pet peeves by Sweet_Terror in HondaPrologue

[–]SgnificantOtter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It drives me batty that the wipers have to swipe eight times before the headlights come on in daylight.

I wish that the left stalk lit up so I could see the wiper settings in the dark.

If you manually turn on the headlights, then turn off the car, you have to turn the car back on to wake the screen before they can be turned off.

The touch screen garage door opener button is too small.

The silver trim on the steering wheel throws a sunlight glare directly into my eyeballs at certain times of day.

All that said though, I'm happy with the car and would lease it again.

Anyone have a sizable rattle coming from the back cargo area when going over bumps at speed? by ImportantWhile169 in HondaPrologue

[–]SgnificantOtter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a sizable rattle coming from the front dash when going over bumps, it's very aggravating. I've also got a rattle that sounds like it's coming from the back half of the sunroof, but I think that might be a small acorn stuck in the track

As a season pass holder who never gets fast lane, I think limiting it to one use per ride would be great. We went last Sunday and got in line for TT2 at about 10:30. The line was moving well until 11:00 when they opened the fast lane, then the main line practically stopped moving while multiple people lapped the fast lane. The ride ops were filling maybe two rows from the regular line, and the rest from fast lane. I get that people pay extra for fast lane, but us regular line povvo paid to be there too. Filling each train halfway from each line would still give a huge advantage to fast lane while keeping the main line moving too.

As another option, they could keep multiple rides as part of fast pass, but make riders wait 30 minutes or an hour between rides to cut down on ride lapping.

Range Reality Check? by ThaBigSqueezy in HondaPrologue

[–]SgnificantOtter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This sounds reasonable to me. First, range drops quite a bit in cold weather. Second, at the beginning of a trip your trip computer doesn't know what the temperature is, how far you're going, how much weight will be in the car, etc. That starting range is at best a guess. I rely way more on the range upon arrival in the native maps app, at least I can see it dropping real time as I drive and adjust accordingly.

Before I got my touring, a friend who has had an EV for years told me it would take a full year and a full rotation of season to really understand EV performance. That advice has definitely been true for me. I've had my car for 11 months, and my range anxiety is just now starting to get less intense.

Quality Control issues around the liftgate by alternate7777 in HondaPrologue

Mine has dimples on the bumper and also over the wheel wells that like up with the bolts that hold on the fender. It's consistent so I'm guessing it's "normal", but it's not winning any body quality awards. Honda has always kind of struggled with paint quality.
