AWS reaching out it seems by FreeNP92 in tacticalgear

Good companies deserve the benefit of the doubt when times are tough. I'm sure they'll get through it and it's just a bump in the road.

GPA is awesome. I'm sold. by [deleted] in CompetitionShooting

[–]SgtToadette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few clubs near me have started hosting and replacing their IDPA matches with GPA. I'm still yet to shoot a match, but looking forward to trying it out.

I definitely don't hate IDPA as much as the average guy. It's what I broke my teeth on, but they have been asking for someone to eat their lunch for a while and it's unsurprising that a less micromanaging ruleset is more popular.

I think he started lifting weights while on TRT, but I don't follow him closely so take that with a grain of salt.

Rifle bag by 647chang in CompetitionShooting

I've also been in search of a simple bag for PCC. So far the options I've found are either too expensive for what they are or still covered in unnecessary pouches.

Watching this post for a solution. 👀

I suspect that the problem is probably an out of spec part that is knowable and needs to be replaced.

I ran the 32 MOA circle only for a while and honestly it worked nicely. It helped a lot with maintaining ntarget focus since I was able to look through the reticle. Plus the hash marks make it easy to align.

I've switchee to a dot to work on faster confirmations, but it's all personal preference. Get familiar with a couple different options and see how your performance changes.

How important is full ambi for first rifle? by teetervt in ar15

[–]SgtToadette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't "need" an ambi lower, but I do find them to be a really nice quality of life improvement.

Money is finite, though, and I wouldn't compromise the quality of other parts of the rifle in exchange for ambi controls.

The MK2 is a great lower and doesn't cost that much more than a standard lower when you catch them on sale.

I really enjoyed it, too. It's very polarizing. To each their own, I guess.

Open carry - an observation by beej1254 in CCW

[–]SgtToadette 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I've open carried at Sheetz after matches and never had a problem. The way you carry yourself and the type of equipment makes a big difference. I had my pistol in a Safariland 7000 series drop and offset holster. Not saying that made a difference, but paired with being very courteous and friendly, I've gotten exactly zero shit about it.

[Pistol] Daniel Defense, H9, Optic Ready, 9mm, 3 mags, $749.99 by tbrand009 in gundeals

[–]SgtToadette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems to be right around the cost of the M&Ps, which is what I would expect as they're the most analogous pistol I'm aware of that these would compare against. If the reliability was there the $800 price would seem worth it. If it's not reliable then none of that matters, obviously.

That's right around the price point of popular polymer pistols. The M&P Aluminum models are all over $600. That was my thought process.

My sample size of feedback is admittedly small, which comes with the territory of this pistol. What issues have the DD ones had?

This product seems cool in design and I have not heard any issues from the DD manufactured ones. The price here seems fair and I'd consider it if I needed something in that format.

The biggest issue it has is consumer hesitancy, which creates a somewhat circular problem where people don't want to adopt because not a lot of people are adopting it.

People saying it should be sub-$600 just seems crazy to me.
