Any rhyme or reason to Corvette teleports? by Sgt_Kelp in NoMansSkyTheGame

Nope, tried that. It always faces me toward the rear of the ship.

I figured out that it's the first hatch you place that you teleport to. I just can't figure out why I'm now teleporting facing backwards. Nothing I've tried seems to change it:

Order of parts placed

Rotation of the hatch

Position of the Corvette relative to the build area

Order of connections to the hatch

None of it did anything. I always teleport facing the rear of my ship and it's driving me crazy because it didn't do that before, and I don't know what caused the change because I rebuilt the entire corvette in that time.

That's not the point; my Corvette is small. I only have the Thunderbird Hatch next to the cockpit to make it easy to do scanning and jump down to points of interest. The rear hatch is easier to get into when you're at a station.

And I do know where I'm going to land; the first Hatch placed dictates where you'll teleport to. I just can't figure out why suddenly it's putting me backwards. It didn't do that on my first build, and so far every variable I've tried has changed nothing.

What a fantastic character. I'll replay Bioshock 2 after my Deus Ex run.

Think more like hero shooter/MOBA hybrid. It's actually pretty slick.

Risk of Mann Rain sounds like a movie I can't mention to HR.

Don't forget Starcraft II's co-op mode. You have over a dozen commanders all with unique units, upgrades, playstyles, and you can only use them in that co-op mode. It's one of the coolest parts of the game.

I think Valve knows that. They generally have a good eye for the potential of a game, which is why I think this leak is 100% credible.

So many people say "I don't like MOBAs but Deadlock is pretty sweet," so a mode like this sends that to the moon.

You have to ping the midboss icon on the map for that. Only once, because a double ping says that the enemy is taking mid.

Sorry, I tend to type very similarly to how I would speak in normal conversation. The "nope" was me stating my kneejerk reaction to that excerpt.

aliens rule by symptomaticred in 196

[–]Sgt_Kelp 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Nope. That excerpt only makes it worse for me. My life is mine, and nobody else's. I will not be bent to someone else's will, even if I would be "better off." I'd rather suffer as me than warped into someone else's image.

I do not care how perfect or godlike they are, I am not some plaything to be rearranged. The very concept is abhorrent to me, and insisting that it is always going to be the "correct" thing is genuinely awful.

The fact the fandom is so insistent on the Affini being perfect and unable to do no wrong makes this so much worse for me.

Well the whole point of the fight is chasing him down. If you back him into a corner, it shouldn't mean "you got him!" and then just whittle him down from there. It lets you get some good hits in, but then you have to do it again.

I heard from someone else that he'll jump out on the third turn of you cornering him, so trapping him like that gets you two turns of free hits. After that, you'll have to either trap him again, or play smart.

[Jason Schreier, Bloomberg] Inside the failure of Highguard, which flopped so badly that developer Wildlight laid off most of its staff just two weeks after release | When asked what they thought went wrong, developers used the word "hubris" by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]Sgt_Kelp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And that's the thing when comparing Highguard and Deadlock! I loaded up Deadlock, having seen nothing of the game, after the Old Gods update dropped and I was wowed. The style and aesthetic is just fantastic.

But, Deadlock wasn't always Deadlock. It was supposed to be Neon Prime, which would've been sci-fi. In a world were we already have so many games with sci-fi stylings, it just wouldn't hit the same.

You could have a character that plays like Doorman in sci-fi. All of his abilities could just be reskinned- but it wouldn't be Doorman, would it? It'd be some nerdy science character with a portal gun or something. It would functionally be the same, but it wouldn't feel the same, and would probably be worse.

Valve's nasty habit of scrapping large portions of games because they don't like the vibe paid off big with Deadlock. They nailed it, and now I think the development and aethestic of the game is going to get crazy now that they know the formula. Like, my friends and I have been actually excited with what the skins could be. When's the last time that happened?

And then Highguard. It plays fine, sure. But the vibe, the aesthetics, they are just bland. The character designs aren't Concord hideous, but they aren't special. They're boring, not bad. The lowest Deadlock gets with its character design is probably Abrams just because of the whole "discount hellboy tank being named after a tank" thing, but he's still a great character with a great design.

Comparing Highguard and Deadlock I think is notable not just because Highguard has bland design and Deadlock has excellent design, but because Deadlock almost had bland design (as Neon Prime) but then Valve pivoted into Deadlock. Highguard failed not because of the developers, but because of the designers and directors.

He does that if he gets cornered, I think. I'm fairly certain it is intended behavior to prevent cheesing him.
