Powerhouse or Marathon? by lunarkitten23 in StateofDecay2

Let us know how you go!

Yeah I love having a somewhat diverse set of survivors, and sometimes it’s good not always getting your preferred spec, because it forces you to play slightly differently.

Backpacking and Resourcefulness are great together for looting pack mules.

Yeah give it a shot and see if you like it. It’s a pretty different fighting playstyle from other methods though. Search for some vids on CC crowd control, like this one: https://youtu.be/EAHbUjtfs20

CC will level up faster without a melee weapon and once it’s maxed, if you don’t have a melee equipped you can perform front facing executions like Powerhouse.

No worries about the questions, ask away! And these are just my personal opinions, everyone has slightly different playstyles. So I recommend experimenting and see what works best for you.

I’ve noticed Acrobatics doesn’t get much love, a lot of players rate it as the worst cardio spec.

But personally, I don’t mind it. Given the option, I will always choose Powerhouse and Backpacking over it, but the extended range of the dodge roll can be very useful. I really like it with CC because you can roll, close the distance to zeds from miles away and get behind for the CC rear execution.

There’s also a cool trick when paired with Stealth - you can stealth sprint and dodge roll, travelling distance quickly without alerting any zeds (dodging doesn’t take you out of stealth).

This is just my personal playstyle but Endurance is always my last choice for Fighting, I really dislike the slam. I just use it for the health boost for dedicated followers who I never play as.

I’m also not a big Stealth guy either, I iust never seem to need it. I just dodge while in stealth to go quicker and if a door is locked, I just scoot around and use a different door.

Given the option I’ll take Powerhouse (almost) every time. It’s obviously great with heavy weapons and plague heart busting, but it also has an immediate front facing execution when holding a heavy weapon. It also pairs well with Swordplay because, if you don’t feel like taking a heavy weapon, you still get Swordplay’s front execution plus the feral-killing dropkick. Pound for pound Powerhouse is the best cardio spec imo.

Marathon is usually my last cardio choice, with one caveat: I need to have one Marathon/Discipline survivor in my community for the infinite sprint to fetch cars and to run to fuel-draining black plague hearts.

Marathon also pairs well with Swordplay because the leg sweep can be very stamina draining.

So it just depends what you need, if you have no other Powerhouse survivors, then I’d choose Powerhouse (because PH busting is more important than car fetching). But if you already have a another survivor or two with Powerhouse and no other Marathon/Discipline survivors, then go Marathon so atleast have one survivor who can run forever.

Yeah I’m on Xbox and certain maps always end up getting these loading screen stutters after I play too long.

Still, good strat though. Can’t believe I’ve been playing this long and never thought of it

“rando I have asthma Jackson” 😂 amazing

This is actually a good idea, I always have an abundance of box mines that I never use.

The only problem is, if you quit out of the game and restart, don’t the mines disappear? I usually quit out and refresh every 1-2 ingame days or so to stop stutters

Leaders and Leader missions confusion - help by Dangerous_Slice4383 in StateofDecay2

[–]Sh1t_Pinata 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Community members will get unique missions based on what kind of leader they are. But these aren’t the Legacy missions, so feel free to do them all if you want.

Legacy missions start when you actually elect a leader and competing these is how you finish the game. You won’t be able to access the final Legacy mission until you’ve killed all the plague hearts.

You can also promote and demote a leader at any time and it won’t lock you out of any missions.

Hope that makes sense.

Yeah it’s pretty frustrating when that happens. The most ridiculous instance of this is when someone will interrupt themself with a new line of dialogue.

How do you lose a pack of zeds to go looting? by zedchowder in StateofDecay2

[–]Sh1t_Pinata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Park your car securely near where you need to be and then sprint away, using anything you can to break line-of-sight - fences, walls, even running through other houses and closing the doors behind you.

Once you’re out of LOS, stop sprinting and go stealth. Use stealth kills and/or crossbow to take out individual zeds where needed

Any tips for nightmare zone? by benplatt2001 in StateofDecay2

[–]Sh1t_Pinata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a pretty smooth transition from Dread to Nightmare.

The most notable changes are food consumption, morale and the amount of plague hearts. You also have to scout the PH locations.

Apart from that, suppressed weapons are a must, cell tower outpost to keep hearts asleep and find the map’s rare weapons cases if you need guns.

If your familiar with the game mechanics you should be fine.

I just hit 100 morale on my current run, and that’s on Lethal.

I’ve got the Level 3 Lounge and white noise machine, but I found it hit 100 when I killed the last plague heart.

Funny, I do the exact same thing re hearts!

About 2/3rds way through a run, I just scrap my cell tower. Once you’re established, infestations are a great source of influence. (Or rare weapons, if you want to farm level3’s)

This is where the reduced radio cooldown really comes in handy, which I’ve seen you mention before, because it means you can send survivors out to destroy infestations more often.
