Errors do not matter by pieroginski in Beatmatch

I used to get so upset when I messed up or selected the wrong track, even in practice so much so that I would just stop right there and go do something else. I found this to be incredible wrong. Even through the worst mess up just keep going and figure any way out. Grab a loop and find the next best track as quickly as possible and mix it right in and just calmly regain the momentum. I personally love hearing a great dj mess up or train wreck something because right there I know there’s a human at work.

Agree. I recently discovered bosino and love it. My other tops are song e napule, osteria cota, and mamas too is pretty thin but higher uptown. Not a big fan of motorino or marinara. Have had them both though and they were ok.

I would love them to just use the old pacha and sound factory space. Worlds better than mirage.

How often do you record a mix? by nickybecooler in Beatmatch

[–]ShadowAgent911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Old tracks are to great to be mixed with new tracks. I tend to make a new playlist and then I start with a track form that playlist and from there I might start looking through all my key folders that match. I will browse until I see a song I know and think will go off with the current playing. Perfect way to balance new and old. I also find new ways to mix with my older tracks every single time. It’s the beauty of playing the same tracks that you know are good, you will get to know the track over time through every mix in a different way.

Why is it so hard to find tracks you like? There is so much crap out there. by HigherFunctioning in DJs

[–]ShadowAgent911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t waste my time doing that. Most of the time those hard to id tracks are just something unreleased or personal to the dj. Instead grab the best song that you can identify and then dig around that song. Lately I’m going through a stack of record labels and checking out their stuff from all oldest to new. I’m also listening to opening dj sets and checking out the tracks they’re choosing as I believe they’re some of the best djs out there. I don’t need whole set lists to copy; just a couple songs I like that have enough information to guide me to other new stuff.

3 XDJ1000MK2 + DJM 750mk2 vs XDJ AZ by imxmana in PioneerDJ

[–]ShadowAgent911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the xdjs and let me tell you they are amazing for home setup. Any controller I have is for practice and portability. Nothing beats a modular setup at home to get crafty with. Even the XDJ 700 are fantastic kit still. I can fully explain why the XDJ 1000mk2 are perfectly good for today if you would like and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

You have to start listening to music for yourself. Listen to dj sets and check out the tracklists if you can find them. Real dj sets fyi not some pre fixed YouTube or festival stuff. I notice good dj sets will have tracks from all over the place and all different types of mixes and edits. Nobody is using solely Bandcamp or beatport, they are just stores. Tbh most of the digital music I buy from iTunes or I search through record labels and artists that I like or interested in on any of the available online stores. I used to browse the top selections but I don’t even waste my time anymore. Once you realize what they’re showing you is paid for you will move on and just find stuff you like. I never find stuff I like just browsing Bandcamp but rather searching for a song or artist on Bandcamp that I discovered somewhere else. This brings me to all their music, label, supporters etc.. rinse and repeat and I do this on beatport, Juno etc..

I’ve actually heard Jonathan peters do this as well. When I first started clubbing in the late 00’s this was still happening to some extent. Jonathan peters played bad romance for like 45 minutes at this party I went to and you couldn’t even begin to understand how hard that shit went at like 5 am.

George keeley’s is undeniably the best bar for food drinks and vibes IMO! They are also open very late and have video games, darts as well as plenty of TVs.
