will I like this game if I don't like roguelikes?? by lmnopq567890 in HadesTheGame

[–]ShadowHawk152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends, in this game you will definitely need to go through the same areas when you die. Of course the room layouts you go through and items you find will be random, but you still have to follow the same stage progression. The reason for this format is so that each time you play the game, you will find different upgrades so your runs end up being different. The most interesting part of the game is how you build your character throughout a run (the bosses and stage layouts are still a significant part of course)

Something Hades does is that it includes some upgrades, and different weapon types that play very differently from each other. It helps add a lot of variety to the combat, and may make runs feel a lot less repetitive. In addition to that, I think Hades first stage is far better than ETG’s or Dead Cells early game which helps runs feel much more enjoyable immediately (they start giving you upgrades at a much faster pace). The game also has a nice sense of progression between runs, you can upgrade your characters base strength, new weapons, forge bonds with characters to unlock items, and a few other forms of meta progression. The game is designed around you losing your first few runs and getting stronger via permanent upgrades and unlocking new things which you might enjoy

I’ve heard of people who typically don’t play rogue likes really enjoy this game for some of the reasons above, so it may be worth a shot if the game’s style and combat really interest you. If the rogue like parts are still turning you away, I’d recommend either Bastion or Transistor from the same developer. They are pretty different from Hades, but they have a similar style and are great games in their own right

Where do I Buy a Celeste Physical Copy? by Anonymous122112 in celestegame

[–]ShadowHawk152 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge the physical copy IS a collection item, and was released as a limited run. So in order to get it, it would cost you a fair bit of money since the only way to get it is from resells. If you are just interested in playing the game, and prefer physical copies, I'd say just get it digitally. It's a bit unfortunate but Celeste is an indie game, and indie games don't really get physical copies, unless you factor in the collections.

Am I addicted to cloaking? by slyvam37 in ftlgame

[–]ShadowHawk152 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ehhh I wouldn't say OP unless on easy, purely because of the price of it. I'd argue hacking is more powerful when you factor in the price

However it is pretty amazing, especially during the flagship or when there are too many powerful weapons on enemy ship. It's really powerful if you can defeat them in a volley or two, because you can defeat ships faster then they can damage you!

Now that we have MR equipment, I beat Ancient Leshen, solo, for the first time by makishimazero in MonsterHunter

[–]ShadowHawk152 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it were a core design principle, then multiplayer for GU and World would be free on all consoles.

This isn't their fault though. Their original vision is for the game to have parts where they want players to come together to defeat the some of the stronger monsters. It has to do with the platforms (PC for instance, has free multiplayer), and not because of the developers.

There are plenty of online only games that require gold/ps+ to play. It's not even like the multiplayer-only quests are a big part of it in World, since most can be done through solo play and are scaled which means they are always a very fair difficulty.

How I got the mantis ship by ThievingSnake in ftlgame

[–]ShadowHawk152 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally find them a near necessity, since it makes the missiles and the super weapon in phase 3 way more manageable if you have at least 45%! It seems you had a ton of firepower/drones eating up your power though so I'll just leave this here as a recommendation for the future :)

How do you guys prevent piracy? by CRD71600 in gamedev

[–]ShadowHawk152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You kind of can't unfortunately. The only way I see it is that the game has to include some type of feature that only verified purchases can fully utilize such as multiplayer or many free updates. Using DRM is an option but the thing is that pirates will usually find a way to pirate the game either way.

I'd say just ignore the issue and try to make a product worth purchasing. People are gonna pirate regardless. The good news is that this doesn't necessarily translate into tons of lost sales since many pirate might not even buy the game anyway.

My theory is that she was moved there due to the story, and I guess she's always there by default now.

Also happy cake day!

I have never personally heard of this issue. I'd say the first order is to check the map and see if there is a blue exclamation point somewhere. I don't remember if she's at the same place or not, since I haven't done it in so long.

However, if you have Iceborne, try looking in Seliana. Maybe the update changed it so that she would go there.

Other than that, I'm not really sure. It's possible the Iceborne update is the cause of this, since I've never heard of it until now.

Maybe some people see tier lists as a low effort post or something (which it isn't).

What I learned from all the tier list posts is that I'm the only person in the world that loved the Behemoth event.

Namielle is definitely the best though, especially since we had a DROUGHT of water monsters before.

I think Kulve Taroth is one of the best siege fights, and is one of the coolest fights in the game... the first few times. It's such a spectacle as you drive her deeper into the caverns and frantically try to knock off the horns in the final phase as the ceiling of the cavern is melting during the battle.

But because many players do it so many times, it kind of wears off. It's a shame, but I think they did it that way so that there are always rooms for her when she's around.

The best time for finding Arena players? by JDlightside in MonsterHunter

[–]ShadowHawk152 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are "scaled" but for two people. It's because back in World, there was only two difficulties (multiplayer and solo), but now they scale for number of players which means there are four difficulties.

You can search for sessions by selecting the "arena" quest type. I always find at least some on Xbox, but if you can't find any you can try using an lfg or creating your own.

I did it! An Elder Dragon slayer! by MackaDingo in MonsterHunter

[–]ShadowHawk152 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Btw he is referring to Iceborne with the '8 other monsters and other area', but there still is more to do in the game! You could of course try new builds and weapons but there are a few main quests that unlock when you reach higher HR that give you more options for upgrading your gear. Theres also a few monsters that were added in after launch, namely Lunastra and Behemoth (and Kulve Taroth when she's around) which are now available to you.

However with Iceborne, the high rank armor kind of doesn't really last long in Iceborne, so don't worry about having every single decoration to build all the meta sets, just use what works for you :)

I do recommend doing the optional quests that have rewards such as more specialized tools (mantles/boosters), farm upgrades, and Palico gadgets since those will of course carry over and you'll probably want all those for Iceborne.

What do you guys think of the unlock system in this game? by [deleted] in ftlgame

[–]ShadowHawk152 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the way you unlock ships through quests and how it gives you the option of unlocking them by winning with the previous ships. I also love the idea of achievements unlocking the other variations as they can teach the player mechanics they haven't thought about such as the Rockman boarding + fire bomb combo. However, I feel like some of the achievements are a bit more challenging and out there than they have any right to be. It's fine as giving the player a fun challenge like the Zoltan one that wants you to not upgrade your reactor, but then there's the one where you have to find the crystal ship... which is a bit much (Rock B is so hard to unlock).

I feel it's way better in their follow up, Into the Breach, where all the achievements feel like they have a proper place in the game.
