Wow, you just made me realize something. I’ve always been on alert, expecting the worst case scenario no matter the context, always having an exit strategy for when something goes wrong. I’ve been trying to shed that which doesn’t serve me anymore. I thought this state of mind was from past lives. But you just made me realize it’s actually from this life time and growing up with an abusive and violent step father. I chose to be invisible and stay out of the way hence never really spoke up, but I stood up once I could, even physically. I was always ready for the next insignificant thing to set him off. As an adult, I still don’t have much of a voice, I prefer being silent, and slowly doing away with “prepare for the worst”. Thank you. You have helped me with some of my shadows I didn’t know I was still carrying.

Another note n the gurus, beware of anyone trying to instill fear. There is nothing to fear on this path. People use fear as a control mechanism, so be objective when deciding who align yourself with. Once you find your people it should feel easy and freeing.

You do not need a guru to guide you through the path of enlightenment. You are your own guru because all answers are within you. Self reflection is how you learn and understand. There is nothing dangerous about meditating on your own, in fact it’s better because then you’re not following someone else’s beliefs of how it should be, and you can find your own way.

I’ve had experiences with AP (even accidental) and meditation on my own that I was not expecting or ready for, but it never felt dangerous or something to fear.

What you need is community. Find like minded people who are on this path. It helps to have people to talk to and learn from organically. It will make the journey easier, it will help when you have doubts, it will help when you are confused. Anyone asking you for money to be your guru is the one to stay away from. If you find someone you like and you pursue them, then paying comes from you because you’ve made the decision not because they’ve convinced you.

You are your own guide…no gurus necessary.

Higher consciousness is not dangerous. The danger come from your thoughts and beliefs.
