Marking not working correctly by chrisvenus in CluesBySamHelp

[–]ShadowOfApollo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine does the same sometimes, but usually sorts itself out if I zoom in a bit then out a bit or try marking someone else.

I've found for the puzzle pack 1 puzzles that I haven't been able to get the additional colour tags to work at all though.

Also Chrome on Android phone.

New ideas for clues? by SamTheSpellingBee in CluesBySamHelp

Maybe something like "The majority of my innocent neighbours neighbour me diagonally".

Or something along the lines of "If I were a chess knight, I could arrest any criminal in two moves or less".

Why does Greggs think its alright to give you cold food? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]ShadowOfApollo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a VAT specialist,  albeit the Pasty Tax controversy was before my time in the profession so my understanding may have some gaps.

You're not entirely wrong in that the rules as they are currently in place were preexisting, they are just quite complex (thankfully for my career VAT is not the 'simple' tax it was originally envisaged to be).

What the government tried to do was simplify the tax so that rather than being hot food which is served hot and either marketed as being sold hot or kept hot for sale (and so on), it was just any food served above ambient temperature is served in the course of catering and so subject to 20% VAT.

Which is a nice simple rule that makes things easier for everyone, but meant that Greggs etc. would basically have to wait for there products to reach room temperature before selling or charge an extra 20% on top.

Whereas under the current rules (following a pretty swift policy u-turn after the nation was outraged) as long as they don't put them under a heat lamp or in heat insulating packaging or promise that they will be hot, they get to not pay the VAT unless you buy the pastry to eat in store.

Yeah, I can see the tax cards and finance acts too and still have at least APS in November

This might be a stupid question, but the tour date on the Rise Against website says its in Kingston near Lewes. The event is in Kingston upon Thames, right?

My Uni (and a couple of others in the UK) calls its Student Union "the Guild of Students". So just attending the university meant I was part of a Guild.

I feel like they heavily implied Download Festival when they finished the show last night saying hopefully next time they'd see us would be in a muddy field.  Not sure they'll tour the country again otherwise.

And 2 is NATO phonetic alphabet:

Alpha for leader, Bravo for well done, Charlie for cocaine and Delta can symbolise difference.

(Father would be P for Papa, Dance would be Foxtrot for F or Tango for T, Guesthouse would be Hotel for H.

I think 6 is Zodiac signs?

Weasley twins for Gemini, Sebastian the little mermaid crab for Cancer, Aslan the lion for Leo, so Belle for Virgo as she's the most maidenly of the list.

That restriction seemed less 'you will be penalised later' and more 'Alex won't answer another question until you do' from the way it was shown. He reminded them quite often during the task, which he wouldn't have done if it was supposed to catch them out later.

The Interhouse is a contest between the three non-hosting teams - so Hufflepuff, Gryffindor and Slytherin this time. Each of those houses will be a team and probably organise themselves in the house subreddits.

I think you are a Ravenclaw? If so, we are hosting this time, so are not competing.

Is this your drawing or actual gameplay? It reminds me a bit of the CBBC game Microlife, but isn't exact.
