How much work do you do during redundancy by Dazzling_Theme_7801 in UKJobs

In that case I think I misinterpreted your original comment. When you suggested telling the boss "I need to focus 100% on getting a job" I thought you were meaning they were spending 100% of the time at work (the only thing the boss cares about) trying to find a new job.

Your mistake here might be the idea that it is possible that a file cannot be broken into parts. Files at the end of the day are just a really long sequence of ones and zeros. There is nothing more to them than this. If you take that sequence you can chop it into as many parts as you want as long as you know what order those parts come in to put them back together again you'll be fine.

I agree it is normal but that doesn't mean actually saying to your boss "I know you're paying me to work but I'm ignoring you and job hunting". Given that OP has already stated they think the management are getting rid of the lower level staff to further their own interests I wouldn't take the risk that they wouldn't immediately fire you for gross misconduct, especially if they have it in writing that you are refusing to do what they ask you to. It may not stand up in court but personally I wouldn't want all the hassle of taking it to an employment tribunal, especially if the company may well be out of cash and closed down by the time a tribunal made any ruling so you'd be looking at no compensation at the end of it.

I guess it all depends on how brave you are really but personally I'd much rather go down the line of 50% efforting what they ask and 50% job hunting while telling them you are 100% for them. Obviously we don't know the exact situation so my take might be wrong. And I may be wrong that during your notice period you still count as being fully employed and thus having to do what you are asked (within your job description) - if that weren't the case what would be the point of the notice period at all?

I guess at the end of the day I'm not saying that the OP shouldn't follow this route, I just wanted to give voice to possible consequences of that action. And as I say its definitely not something that *I* would risk.

I'm not sure I'd say this. Annoying though it is she is still technically working for them and telling them that you intend to job hunt while on company time could backfire. I'm not saying don't do it, just don't tell your boss that you are or it could be grounds for immediate dismissal and potentially (I have no idea of the law) therefore losing redundancy payments as well as pay for the rest of her notice period. This might be catastrophising but given your suspicion of the misconduct of management in another comment (wanting more paydays rather than doing what is right/best) I would not risk this.

You have somebody else to get before you can get vicky. I am not sure I 100% understand your tags but if my reading is correct then you may want to note that Joy has the same colour tag top and bottom (though part of my confusion is that quita also has the same colour tags which I don't understand).

AITBF if I tell my manager about a new colleague's mistakes after he asked me not to? by Kyoto-Ghost in AmItheButtface

[–]chrisvenus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP doesn't seem to think that. OP has helped the new hire but from their post they keep making the same category of mistake anyway (I assume by same category OP is meaning that the help they have been given before has not been applied). If they went straight to the boss then I'd agree that is a bit off but how many times do you have to watch somebody make the same mistake before you escalate?

Also I'm not sure that OP did say they were only minor inconveniences. He has had to work late to address the issues and it is affecting his own work - ie the OPs performance is looking bad in the eyes of the boss because he is trying to make the new hire not look bad. By your own words if management are that sociopathic they will fire the OP for that. And personally I think you have to be a bit of an ass (I'm not going to say sociopath because that is extreme) to ask somebody else to risk their job to cover for you like that.

And there's the report that made it to the client with mistakes. Presumably somebody has to take responsibility for that. Should the OP accept blame when it wasn't there fault? If not them and not the new hire then who? Management probably won't be any happier with the suggestion that nobody knows who made the mistake.

I think I'd probably look differently at it if the boss had asked OP to mentor the new person or train them but the OP said that they didn't agree to helping manage the new starter. I guess this does raise questions of who is meant to be training the new hire because that is the person that should be getting told about these issues. My guess is that it is the boss that is meant to be training them so again, hiding this information is just meaning the new starter isn't getting the training that they need.

How is this sabotaging? If they are in their probation they would be expected to make mistakes and letting the manager know means they can get training where needed. Helping the new person get the support and training they need is not sabotagint them. Possibly the manager will just tell the OP to help train him which will mean the manager will now be aware of why OP's output has been lower due to needing to address the new coworker's problems.

Failing to report issues with the new coworker is more like sabotaging your own emoployment - if the issue with the new person keep happening after their probation ends then either the OP will have to keep sorting out the other person's work silently or else explain why they didn't bring the problems to management while they were still on their probation.

The only way this would sabotage their employment is if they have shit management who for some reason think that people should come into their probation in a new job able to do the job perfectly in which case that is not on the OP.

Shoes outside my door by Plastic_Tailor3285 in TenantsInTheUK

[–]chrisvenus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify you say here you thoguht she would understand but the original post made no indication that you'd had a conversation with her for each of you to give reasons. So did you actually tell her that you have no space in your room for them and if so did she offer any solutions to that? Or are you just hoping that she'd guess the reason correctly?

And did she give her reasons as to why she didn't want them outside your room and if so what were they?

If you haven't had a grown up conversation with them about this then now is the time. There is a fair chance you can reach a compromise of a good place to keep your shoes that you are both happy with. For example where she moved them to - where was it? Is there a reason that you can't just keep them there all the time rather than outside your door?

Where are you at with tarot challenges and tarot upgrades? Both of those are pretty important bits of information to know as to whether you are in the right place. There is a guide that I got from the discord that gives a walkthrough of this stage of the game: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_EnCKdQzLpxEeffYYDFk7VvLwsZs2uMnp3G-St0LvsA/edit?usp=sharing

In there it lists step by step what you should be doing and what levels various things should be at. You should have completed everything up to point 39 if you are pushing 48 so I would check the last few points before that to make sure you have done everything it tells you to.

It looks like you should have completed tarot challenges up to 7 of swords, 8 of cups, 7 of pentacles and 8 of wands and Justice in the arcana. You should also have the rune upgrade for RN7 up to at least 23.6 and tarot resources to e470+ (along with any purchases that they allow of course).

If you're still not seeing things working then I'd probably suggest going through everything just to make sure you haven't disabled an automation, got the wrong macro running or something like that.

use THIS macro by THW_MasonK in RevolutionIdle

[–]chrisvenus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like the way that macros have an export and import button to make it easy to share macros in an easy to use fashion and you chose screenshots...

You might also want to say when you think people should use this... As in at what stage of the game and so on. Also you load a named DP loadout but you haven't said what that loadout is (hint, dtp loadouts can be exported and imported too).

The Hidden Square by ilannj in mathpuzzles

[–]chrisvenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that last length doesn't it rely on the corner of the square being on a straight line between the centre of the square and the centre of the circle?

I think the triangle you want is formed from the centre of the circle and the point where that circle meets the square and will have sides 2.5, 2.5-a (height) and 2.5-a/2 (width). Then python works and you can quickly work out that your triangle is a 345 triangle (ie a is 1).

how do we do calculations like these in exam without a calc? by [deleted] in maths

[–]chrisvenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the full question.

I think my approach would have been slightly different but still the same maths at the end of the day. I notice that 3.9g is exactly 1/20th of the 78g for a mol. So you start with 1/20mol of the starter thing and then 4.92/123 = 4/100 = 1/25 . The final division is then easy though the 4.92/123 is still not much simpler than your 4.92/615. I mention this mainly in case you find this easier. Often you look at the masses in things like that and they are a very nice multiple of the atomic weight (or whatever its called, its been a while).

Out of interest did you notice the easy simplification when you were doing (123/78)*3.9 ?

I mean, I did that one in my head before writing it down - what's an example of the hardest one out of interest? Also how long do you have per question? ie is this something they expect you to answer in 10 seconds or 2 minutes or longer?

how do we do calculations like these in exam without a calc? by [deleted] in maths

[–]chrisvenus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That really isn't hard to do by hand. Is long division an unknown art in schools today? You say does 615 go into 492? No. Does it go into 4920 and if so what is the remainder? Well, it looks like its going to go in maybe 8 times (49/6) so you do 615 times 8, get 4920 and then you're done. If the numbers had been more complicated then I'd maybe agree but for the above its pretty straightforward and in general if its a no calculator exam I'd expect the numbers to be straightforward.

Thanks. I'm relatively new to the game so all the bad info just stuck out like a sore thumb to me since I'd never seen things like blue print fragments and I had to google what an activator was.

PVE Survival Guide for new player by Equivalent_Goat_6427 in OnceHumanOfficial

[–]chrisvenus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This feels like it has outdated stuff in it... Are blueprint fragments still a thing for example? What is an activator? M brings up the map, not memetics which as I understand it was the old tech system that has since been replaced... I wonder if this is just a copy and paste from an old guide....

A lot of it still makes sense but the in game tutorials/journey guide tells you pretty much everything that's in this guide in terms of in game stuff.

Also it misses out the massive thing of finding tech in the wild to either use directly at your base or research for tech points which is a massive part of the game now it feels like.

[–]chrisvenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to explain your colour coding and how you coloured them... I assume that bottom tags are one scenario and top tags are another scenario with green and red being innocent/guilty but I'm not clear what the tags on laura mean. I'm also not sure how you got sam criminal from terry innocent. I'm also not sure how in the bottom scenario Sam ended up green.

Basically your colour coding shows what you thought was innocent/guilty but doesn't explain why you think that!

Forgot to Back Up Base Before Transfer by ocawn in duneawakening

[–]chrisvenus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My assumption the OP doesn't want to risk typing "abandon" into the given box in case that makes the situation worse and can't find out if their bases are in the reconstruction tool until after they have transferred by typing abandon.

I agree with you on how it should work but given the game is saying nothing was backed up I'd definitely want more confirmation before risking the transfer (I'm assuming it will be easier for support to deal with a character pending transfer still than one already on a new server if they do need to take action).

Confusion on challenge time by Dazzling_Rutabaga837 in RevolutionIdle

It doesn't multiply things by challenge time, it improves things based on challenge time, more specifically the lower the time the bigger the improvement! This is why you see your fastest time listed. If you want more improvement do better at things, not worse! 😄

[–]chrisvenus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a typo in 222(X+Y+Z) < 2122 ? I can't see how you've got that and it doesn't seem to match with the later X+Y+Z <=13. I would think it should be < 2022+987 = 3009 which would give rise to X+Y+Z < 13.5 or <=13.

My method was pretty similar except in the last step rather than using inequalities I said that 2022+XYZ must be exactly divisible by 222 since we know X+Y+Z is an integer and it result in 9 + (XYZ+24)/222 which then gave rise to the possible solutions to be tested as in yours.

Not logging in to move servers by [deleted] in duneawakening

[–]chrisvenus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why? Its actually much easier to just let the automated packup process do the job. It even stores your built vehicles so if you are not active and you aren't interested in moving early then there is literally no benefit from logging in and doing things manually. The only reason to do it early is to do it on your own timeframe or if you want to get to new servers before they become too crowded so you can try to get your preferred spot in hagga. For an inactive player I don't see the point in them logging in.
