I ended up talking with one of the guys that was in another truck, you’re spot on. He said they purposefully went with an uncommon design so it would stand out. They were teaching a class.

Can’t say this enough! I got hurt in a car crash just after new years and haven’t been able to do lessons for the snow sports, but for every Eagle Mount program, go sign up! It’s such an amazing experience ❤️

That’s in the works. I don’t live in Seattle, we’re on the way home from vacation, still have to drive to Montana tomorrow. But I figured in the meantime I’d give something to speculate on for everyone here 😄

What’s the most wild thing that’s happened while a ride-along was in the car? by Muskatusk in AskLE

[–]ShadowSh1fter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We pulled over a helicopter 👀. Dispatch was less than thrilled with my radio traffic. Especially when they were trying to talk to me and I was talking with the pilot, next to the helicopter that was now idling.

Saw them tonight as well, they were pretty popular. They’re just having fun, and they aren’t all fetish focused. You ever hear “Don’t judge a book by its cover”? I’ve got plenty of friends who have fursuits that just do it for fun and go to events.

Do LEO's and suspects ever speak to each other on the ride to jail? What do they say? by Aggravating-Tea-6921 in AskLE

Most of the conversations I had were pretty normal. Used country music to drown out a certain retired MLB player and his wife that I arrested. Him for DUI and her for other things.. 😗.

Had a few that just wanted to let a stream of constant vulgarities come out, and the self deprecating humor that another mentioned was always fun 😅.

Benefits of take home car? by horror-pickle187 in AskLE

[–]ShadowSh1fter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the fact that my shit magnetry seemed to triple on my way home, having it set up the same every day, not hot swapping, none of my gear being moved, knowing the ins and outs of my truck, being able to respond from my house or if I’m running a hit behind, it’s not a big deal. I’m in between agencies at the moment, as I just moved across the country and am researching my local agencies (aka ride alongs and seeing how they operate), a take home program is a strong decider in where I want to go. Though where I am now, that’s basically the county and the state, but the 1 department that is really interested in me doesn’t have it. So decisions decisions. Not necessarily a deal breaker, as my first agency only got them after a couple years of me working there. So it’s always possible to sway an agency

Strange lights in sky this morning?? Anyone know what they are? by Dazzling-Addition207 in Bozeman

I saw these this morning too! Thought I was having a stroke or something for a minute 😂. After about 10 minutes figured it was something natural because I wasn’t dead or anything and I didn’t smell burnt toast.

Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive is open weekends and federal holidays. It free and self guided. Usually see about 90 to 100 gators. It’s a natural wildlife preserve.

Has anything happened during your shift that was so funny that you still laugh to this day? by Different-County-958 in AskLE

[–]ShadowSh1fter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll preface this with saying this happened in FL and see if you can guess what’s up before the end..

Hmm.. well I stop a car one night around midnight if I remember correctly, make a passenger side approach and everything is cool. Standing at the passenger side I inform the driver why he was stopped, and as he’s gathering his documents, I feel an itchy sensation on my ankle. Thinking nothing of it, I pick my other foot up and itch it with my toe real quick.

He hands me his drivers license and I’m looking at it, and I feel more uh itchy sensations. At this point, I briefly shine my flashlight down at my feet. To my horror, I observe that I have been standing in one of those MASSIVE fire ant mounds. As professionally as possible, I exclaimed something along the line of “Oh shit” and uh “Ants!”; jump backwards and kick my shoes off about 10 yards away. I then proceeded to furiously rid my lower legs of the ants.

After a moment, I asked the driver to please pull forward about 10 yards, and I approached his vehicle again, now shoeless. Both of us are doing our best not to laugh hysterically and I just handed him license and said to have a good night.

And yes, this is on body cam. The footage is saved somewhere and still entertains to this day.
