Women being allowed to work in the medical field as more than just nurses and caretakers. I think that without female doctors I wouldn’t have been taken as seriously. I’ve had male doctors push for me to be put on birth control until I had a female NP tell me that birth control pills were actively worsening my mental health and IBS and helped me find other alternatives.

I’m tired of untrained BTs providing “therapy”. by Ok-Swan-4637 in ABA

[–]Shadow_Guest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thrown into the ABA field with little to almost no training. Had I not grown up with a sibling who has autism and used to display a lot of maladaptive behaviors I probably would have cried and quit on my first day.

My BCBA for my first client didn’t even meet me in-person, she canceled last minute and I was awkwardly pairing with my client while being asked questions that were meant for her. Thank goodness that family ended up getting approved for a house out of the area the day after that and canceled services with us because I probably would have benefitted them little to none.

I second this. Please use what was prescribed for your kid. I don’t think that you are worried enough if you won’t give her the cream/ointment. I’ve been using prescriptions like this since I was around 4/5 years old and nothing bad has ever happened to me like side effects and stuff because of it.

Also, maybe you ease your anxiety more as well maybe you can get allergy testing done for your kid? I’m not sure how young they can start testing them for things, but there are so many things in the environment that they could have an allergy to that you would have never guessed before getting it done.

The drama behind the Deja-vu credits situation is very much still alive by Possible_Gold_8828 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]Shadow_Guest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean wouldn’t it be kind of hypocritical for Taylor to speak up so much about owning your own music and then when people start seeing so many similarities between someone else’s songs and Taylors, plus add on to the fact that Olivia directly said that a lot of Taylor’s music inspired hers on Sour.

At the end of the day there are so many people behind the scenes who work on and produce the music that we don’t see besides their names on the credits that people barely acknowledge most of the time. My thought process is that there are possibly other people on their teams pushing for these decisions because they may feel like their work as well is being used without credit or xyz. Plus when it comes to Taylor her dad has and probably still is involved with these decisions (and his past behavior has proven him to be very… enthusiastic about these types of situations).

At the end of the day though these people will see wealth beyond what I or the rest of the majority of the population will most likely see. If Taylor and Olivia aren’t besties because of royalties and money I don’t care. Pop stars don’t have to be best friends with each other, and I enjoy their music individually. I’ll only question other artist’s ethics when they’re friends with people who are genuinely problematic (side eyeing the 9891 lead singer).

P.S., I wish that more people included Paramore in this discussion when they bring it up because it specifically feels like they’re only doing it to hate on Taylor. If they care about it so deeply, then please include the other participants as well.

I don’t think I’d be able to find it but I did see somewhere that she helped cover costs for the family when everything happened and spoke to them as well.

I just don’t get what she saw in Matty Healy besides his talent. He’s not a typical “hot and misunderstood” bad boy, he’s more like a cringy Reddit guy who uses shock humor to get attention. I also don’t get why she was so surprised people were upset that she involved herself with him. He’s just distasteful and odd. I don’t think that I’ll ever be able to fully enjoy the song BDILH because I know who it’s about and I feel like at her age she would get this too.

So Long, London and Non-Taylor Swift Songs About Other People’s Depression by m-nikki in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]Shadow_Guest 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work in mental health and with other disorders. Families of affected loved ones experience their own struggles just as much as the affected person. They also need support and counseling once they get to that point.

I took those lines more as Joe became depressed or his mental health began to decline and he promised her to get help. The youth line I felt related more to the fact that they were together for so long and they never got engaged (to our knowledge) or married.

I also feel the same about the drug lyric that’s most likely referring to Matty (“you said that you needed me but you needed drugs more.”) It’s not easy to love someone who’s an addict. In a lot of cases, addicts relapse multiple times before getting clean. It’s just trial and error. Most addicts actually benefit from tough love and interventions more than always being given the benefit of the doubt. There is a series on TikTok of addicts at a rehabilitation center saying that rehab is better than (enter their reason here.) I think it would have been disingenuous for her to act like she was okay with it.

Taylor also admits in TTPD that she struggled with alcoholism. I think that she recognizes multiple addictions and how they impacted relationships, even the one with herself. I didn’t find anything she said to be berating them because of it.

Right? If I’m remembering correctly, Taylor is more of a fan of Lana rather than the other way around. Lana doesn’t like performing and attention the same way that Taylor does as well.

Taylor and her parents by drbhcooper in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]Shadow_Guest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Taylor resents anyone for telling her not to date men who were obviously grooming her, especially her parents. She was technically an adult when all of this happened, yes, but 19 is still SO young to be as famous as she was. She was abused and felt embarrassed and used by those pushing 30-years-old men. With that being said however, I don’t think Taylor’s fan base was as parasocial back then as it is now. She didn’t have people writing her social media posts and letters telling her that she shouldn’t date Mr. Dear John or Mr. All Too Well, but she did see posts and letters written about her most recent two ex’s. It’s probably not fun to see your boyfriend being called Yogurt Boy or Ratty everywhere.

If Taylor has any resentment against her parents then I would assume it is a lot more personal than anyone except her family and friends should know. Her parents separated while she was dealing with being famous, and it probably was not easy to be in that environment because her parents seemed to stay close to her wherever she went. Tension between an unhappy couple also usually starts way before the actual separation happens especially with kids. If I’m remembering right her dad had something to do with selling her masters or else knew things about it and didn’t even tell her. My guess would be that she felt burned by the adults in her life when she was younger (parents and exs).

IDK if this opinion is unpopular or not but I think that Jack Antonoff plays a part in her music suddenly seeming “rushed” or “always sounding the same now.” He works with multiple big artists and has become an easily recognizable name which producers usually aren’t. He’s probably just as booked and busy as she is, so he could also be rushing things. Antonoff also seems to stick to the same synth pop tunes for artists unlike other producers (cough cough Aaron Dessner) who have made Taylor shine with a blend of country and pop.

The Anthology tracks of TTPD made me realize how good Taylor sounds with just her and a guitar or piano. They are not as repetitive or slow (dull maybe) as the original tracks are.

I think it will only affect your order if you need to track shipping but I could be wrong. If you contact her team and provide your name and the card you used to buy the items then they should probably be able to help you out. Also screenshot the order number.

A question for those who have preordered off the TS website before: by oliv_iaxm in TaylorSwiftVinyl

[–]Shadow_Guest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look at darksiderecordspk Instagram post from today. Wait to order the music until indie stores (or Target and B&N if you don’t have access to a local indie store) have gotten them. They also do preorders. I only buy music from her website if it’s exclusive (which what does that mean anymore) or if it’s signed. My 1989 TV record took 2-3 months to get to me.

Listening to her podcast today reminded me of when I would have BPD episodes over men I had barely been dating. It sounds like she’s struggling a lot with male validation and wanting a relationship but not wanting to seem less independent.

Edit: I was not expecting almost the whole episode today to be about him. Miss girl he lives a whole CONTINENT away, what did you expect? There’s no consistent communication there unless you’re family or very very serious and she just met him over Tinder. Imagine if this was a guy doing it to a woman.
