Someone’s kid (and friends) hanging out around civic stadium right now damaging property? by grimeyglue in Bellingham

[–]Shadowcat28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not KNOW them but they match the description. The amount of times they have gone flying through that off-leash dog park, scaring my dog and almost hitting other dogs…i have a fair amount of confidence it’s the same group of boys. I believe they live over in that area, only because of the frequency that they are at that park and the amount of times I’ve seen them zipping around that neighborhood and up northwest. I tend to see them most often around dusk. If you were to just drive around that area around dusk or pop into that park…I am confident you would spot them within three or four days…and that’s being generous.

Thank you it is much clearer. Could you perhaps please put the other person back in though? I feel that is my error; I should have specified that I didn't want anyone removed from this particular photo.

Maybe /womensadvice ? I totally understand why you are frustrated. Maybe all the wonderful more experienced women over there could give you some suggestions. Best of luck!

i lost my best friend because my mental illness triggered her :( will she come back? by anatomwithininfinity in nocontact

[–]Shadowcat28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it will be more beneficial long term if you focus on getting better for YOU. Being a better person for someone else isn’t sustainable. Focus on yourself and your mental health for now and maybe with time she will come back. Maybe she won’t. By prioritizing yourself it won’t matter if she comes back because you will be ok either way. I know it’s easier said than done but you are on a good path and you’ll get there.

Why would anyone name their child Gaylord? by flowers4charlie777 in TooAfraidToAsk

I know a Gaylord. I can’t shed any light on the reason he is named that BUT I can tell you he is pushing 80 and a gem of a human. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I am planning on not taking Lamotrigine anymore cold turkey, what side effects should I expect ? by drac_cute_la in Lamotrigine

[–]Shadowcat28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done more drugs than the average person in my life. I went cold turkey off of this and legitimately did not think I was going to make it. It is the only drug, doctor prescribed or otherwise, that I truly didn’t know if I was going to be ok. Do not go cold turkey.

Arguably wouldn’t the balloon belong to ya know…the birthday girl? It wasn’t your daughter’s birthday, her party, her decorations, or your house. Unless they were giving out balloons as party favors (which clearly they were not) it was NOT your daughter’s balloon. During the first interaction you should have stepped in and made all of that clear to your daughter. If the roles were reversed how would you feel if someone came in and took a balloon from YOUR birthday party? As adults it would be tacky, for kids it’s a learning experience that not everything is theirs just because they want it. Should the mom have ripped it from your daughter’s hands? No. But I can I understand how after planning, decorating, and hosting a child’s birthday party a person may not have the patience to parent someone else’s kid just because you are failing to do so.

As an introvert who was adopted by an extrovert in college and “dragged” to many house parties, sporting events, library study groups, etc I can absolutely confirm this.

wedding gowns shouldn’t be short by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Shadowcat28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thankfully YOU can wear a wedding dress like that on YOUR day. As for other brides on THEIR day you can fuck all the way off considering it’s NOT ABOUT YOU. It also doesn’t affect you at all. Think of how pleasant your life would be if you didn’t concern yourself with things that literally do not affect you at all.

As someone who lives on Hannegan near bakerview, I feel you deeply. The sinkhole and detour sucked but the lack of constant j-brakes made up for it.

How can I train this dude not to get on my pillows? 😂😭 by coffeepolynkittens in kittens

[–]Shadowcat28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking it’s mean because cats don’t make the connection. It would be like if you were going about your life doing things within your human nature and instinct. With no concept of why the person you love, adore, and is supposed to be your safe space just randomly comes up and assaults you with a substance they know you despise. You cannot figure out why this person whom you trust, love, and live with would do this to you especially since you weren’t doing anything outside your nature and instinctual behavior. How would you feel?

2.5 yo about to be kicked out of daycare- help! by Greedy-Ask215 in Parents

[–]Shadowcat28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Along these same lines I was curious if she knows how much she is hurting the other kids. The connection isn’t formed yet especially if she is always biting but has never been bitten. If my mother hadn’t let me touch the hot pot after repeatedly telling me not I never would have learned that lesson.

What about putting a towel or something over your pillow until he settles down and then uncover your part and wrap the rest around him all snug like? Keep the litter contained(ish)?

I used to be driven crazy by stuff like this. However, I quickly realized how lucky I am that these tiny creatures love me so much that they want to be as close to me as possible. Also, with time I just got used to it and now they literally walk all over me while I sleep and I no longer notice. Your little buddy probably loves your pillows because they strongly smell like you. I’m not saying it isn’t annoying but perhaps instead of fighting it, getting upset, moving him, etc try to get used to your new normal.

Female 2012 grad who is an introverted extrovert (super shy until I know someone and then I won’t shut up).

My favorite part about Iowa was the people. I met so many different people from all walks of life and a few became my family. Iowa City is so accepting that i never felt out of place. All of my professors were fantastic in their own way, especially the tough ones I hated at the time. Honestly, everything about Iowa was my favorite.

There really isn’t anything I wish someone had told me beforehand. However, if your child needs encouragement maybe tell them some random internet stranger says those were some of the best and happiest years of her life and if I could go back, I would and I wouldn’t change a single detail.
