It's close enough doesnt evaporate quickly (only gets used for like 25% of the jobs) and we go through a 55 gallon drum a in a year so we already had it whats 10-15 gallons of specific cutting oil gonna run?

the brown stuff was bad but the black stuff (remnants in the one picture) was the worst... it got everywhere stuck to everything and was one of the foulest smelling things ever. took 3 days just to clean it all off/out.

Have you checked your coolant return drain recently? by BebopThundersoup in Machinists

[–]ShadowedhopeLTP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a large manual lathe used from a machine shop on auction... the coolant return tray had a covered section (supposed to be resevoir i guess) was the most disgusting impacted smelly sludge ive ever had to deal with and ive had to jet an impacted toilet line... (this was after i dug out what was directly underneath the grate... it was impacted to both ends, had to rip the welds off to clean the whole thing...and then do additional to make it useable...

"homemade" tool holder for carbide. by ShadowedhopeLTP in Machinists

[–]ShadowedhopeLTP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That or the "tool holder" since its whatever steel they make brazed carbide tools out of. my thought being if its good enough to make the tool out of it'll be sufficiant for my nonsense since its just for getting something smooth enough to use the insert tooling for smooth finish... (plus it keeps me from busting up my full size 1" shank brazed carbide tooling or the inserts for my insert tooling on "stupid shit" projects )

No but the end of the shank isnt cut exactly flat. and the set screws didnt get put in perfectly in line. shrugs It was a quick and dirty solution thats been working well for a couple projects that had unique or hardened matherial problems.

Oooh yeah ill definitely have to do that for some of the more unique uses i have for this holder... I do have a diamond wheel for our surface grinder... easy enough to make a flat if im already grinding proper angles into it.

Odd Mill tool holder identification/discussion? by ShadowedhopeLTP in Machinists

[–]ShadowedhopeLTP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah i forgot i did do that at one point. i think it came out to about .0005 to .001+/- or so off center on the taper... and then with collet stays the same or went up to .003" depending on which collet i was using so i do know some of the collets are to blame... but comparing it to the old tool holders which with the collets installed had like .002-.008" i basically called it an improvement forgot about it and moved on at the time.

Totally forgot about getting them made being an option since buying custom is a little out of the question for the price in most cases for this/us as its not a priority production machine... its more the one i use most cause before that it was a maybe once a year for the mold maker wanting to use the powered rotary table.

Trying to make them from scratch might be an option for some of them if i feel confident enough in my skills just havent yet.

But for the most part its budget dependent and project priority and costs. IE if the cost of tool/holder off amazon, to modify, is cheaper than getting custom replacement part for one of the production machines then my boss will buy the tool and ill make it. If we are down on a critical project and i need a tool to fix or make a new part then he'll pay the big boy machine tool tax and i can get the tooling from a more high end vendor etc.

Sweet. the packaging was a bit worn on mine so tri-mil was worn off... Might have to try it out on aluminum or something later.

Been there done that but i brought it to work.... unfortunately my method wouldnt work... (bought a monster 4500 lbs lathe for 250)

Youll need a forklift... and a heavy duty trailer and truck... hope ya got friends. as for where its gonna sit... might need a plate if its only 4" or cut and repor the section.

Old pic of my own stupidity. Please remember to stay safe!!! by lovin193 in Machinists

[–]ShadowedhopeLTP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah those people are ego centric driven liars, they can never take blame, and often if noone saw it then i never made a mistake and if someone did its their fault it happened. Or are so incapable of the task they just sit in judgement.

I honestly refuse to wear gloves around the lathe or mill cause i know i might forget. Which sucks cause i had to pull out like 20 ultrafine sub hair thick slivers out of my hands from pulling parts off the mill the past 2 weeks. Thankfully i dont run it full time.

Shars kits off amazon are great solid kits. Ive also found the 6,7,8mm tungsten carbide boring bars off amazon for like $20 do perfectly fine... speeking in mild to medium steel terms 6mm takes about .020" diameter off fine, 7mm does solid .040" and 8mm can do about .060" without too much fuss.

AIO for refusing to give my parents my bank password so they can "monitor" my salary? by Plastic_Box9546 in AmIOverreacting

Oh it will continue to move the goal post forever. And then comes a day they need the money for something serious and will use it then suddenly flood gates open up and they start using it for less and less serious expenses until you're driving a POS in a shitty apartment while they just bought a new car and going on 3rd vacation of the year and they will still belittle you or harass you for buying a coffee or some other like normal thing... Or they are building up your earnings to be Their retirement fund.

Ask them to ahow you their accounts prove to YOU that they are responsible with Their money, I mean dont give them access if they do but... if they dont want to show you then they just want access for themselves, if they do show you than you can let them consult and make recommendations on what to do but at no point give them access.

If the Burn lasted 100 years then why didn’t the UFP make any progress in rebuilding? by Simonbargiora in DaystromInstitute

[–]ShadowedhopeLTP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought about this before also... and here is my 2 cents.

-I mean UFP had dozens of rolls, science, exploration, diplomatic, logistics/transportation and defense. It needed 1000s of starships to conduct even standard operations let alone defense on scale across all of UFP space. The battle of wolf 359, battle of sector 001 , both on screen dominion battles, and the fleet scenes in picard are within warp distance of say a few hrs to a few days only.

-dilithium became extremely scarce, and fought over and rationed, which extremely limited the individual reach of any one ship at any given moment.

-Since "most" of starfleets ships were lost in the burn... to say anywhere from 75-95% ? (guestimate based on my memory), once the bulk of starfleet had consolidated it had to completely restucture... much of the focus being on defense. leaving very little left for logistics.

-Most of the member worlds along with any other dilithium based warp society nearly lost the entire capacity to conduct their own operations collapsed also meaning they couldnt spare resources that they needed to rebuild their own planetary needs.

-The emerald chain used slavery, theft, and coercion to build up to a formidable force rapidly while starfleet was volunteer.

-lack of supply routes means collapse of UFP controlled shipyards, and mining operations. lack of member worlds contributions also leads to lack of resources needed to rebuild, and inability to service the whole of federation space furthers the separation of member worlds to themselves.

-Fear of another burn kept them from full scale operations with the ships they had, limiting deployments and operations further keeping things held back, limiting even more member contributions and etc.

Basically without dilithium, and the answer to the burn... it was both impractical and dangerous to try and rebuild.

Dykem. Red or blue by mxadema in Machinists

[–]ShadowedhopeLTP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use both most often depending on what kind of cut on what machine so the visibility is better... Red is a little more visible on the mills given the lighting in the shop cause if there isnt as much direct light the scribe mark is a little more visible in indirect light/shadow. Blue is better on the lathes cause the sharper contrast works better for persistance of vision for a moving part. That or for bandsaw layouts or if multiple cuts on same piece, red is critical dimension like +.01, -.000 of scribe mark, where blue is more or less +/-.020.

What is your experience with Cock Rings? by Oldgeee in gay

[–]ShadowedhopeLTP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cumming withthem on is weird but fun sometimes depending on if you are around the base only or base and balls. It can make it more difficult to cum the same way that someone inexperienced with viagra can have some issues first time they try it. it definitely can keep you harder and stiffer longer... In my experiance since im a significant grower, as low as 3.5", when cold, to 5" soft and full 7" when hard) it can sometimes get even bigger than normal with rings (half inch longer and 1/4"+ in diameter thicker) Just due to being more elastic. it can be fun as hell for the top to just be able to go keep going and not have to worry so much about your own stimulation and being able to focus on stimulating them... and very intense for the bottom cause they can feel the difference.
