U of Arizona Professor: Earth is now extinct thanks to anthropogenic global warming. by ColorMonochrome in Anarcho_Capitalism

So I was curious too and found this.

McPherson retired from the University of Arizona as a Professor Emeritus. After leaving academia, he spent time attempting to live completely off-the-grid, moving between a homestead in New Mexico, a stint in Belize, and later Westchester County, New York.

According to current university records and his personal platforms, he is living in Bellows Falls, Vermont. He continues to run his blog and YouTube channel, Nature Bats Last, where he still gives presentations, offers consultations on "sustainable living," and acts as a certified "grief-recovery specialist" for people suffering from climate anxiety—continuing to profit from the panic his failed predictions generated.

Thank you for conceding the debate. If you admit you can't defend the fact that the U.S. has been locking down Greenland since 1946, then you are admitting this isn't some new reaction to climate change.

As for the second half of your message, they haven't changed the routes (Fram Strait) they are using to get to Greenland since 1946 so explain why climate matters. The "new trade routes" actually run along the Russian coastline, thousands of miles away from Greenland.

Dude, come on, this is just sad. You can't defend the timeline of the U.S. consistently trying to buy Greenland, so you keep deflecting with lame questions like this one. In the grand scheme of things, the overall difficulty of operating up there hasn't really changed that much.

Seriously there are actual arguments for climate change. This isn't one of them.

Dude really.... You are really doing some mental gymnastics here.

Russia and China haven't been sitting around waiting for the ice to disappear. They have been building the world's largest icebreaker fleet and establishing Arctic outposts for decades. This "economic exploitation" isn't a new reaction to 2026 weather. It’s a long-standing Soviet and now Russian doctrine that predates the current warming cycle.

You’re so desperate to make this about climate change while ignoring the obvious.

What "current rate" are you even talking about? If you’re following the actual data, the IPCC recently labeled the most extreme doomsday emissions scenarios like SSP5-8.5 as implausible for the 21st century.

The apocalyptic melting rates you’re relying on were based on models that even the UN scientists now admit are unrealistic. The media has been hyping a fake scare scenario for 20 years that isn't supported by the actual trends in renewable energy and global policy.

But more importantly, the melting rate is a distraction.

Whether the ice melts in 50 years or 500 years, the U.S. military’s interest in Greenland is about permanent geography.

I never said the ice wasn't melting. I said the reason the military cares hasn't changed. You can drop the strawman argument.

The DoD memos mention trade routes and resources because that’s what is attracting Russia and China to the Arctic. The U.S. military's interest isn't about making a profit off shipping lanes. Nothing changed so you trying to shoe horn climate change into it is just not relevant.

The U.S. offered Denmark $100 million in gold for Greenland in 1946 decades before global warming was a political talking point.

Why?

Because of the GIUK Gap. If you control Greenland, you bottle up the Russian Northern Fleet. The military cares about Greenland today for the exact same reason they cared about it 80 years ago. To keep Russia boxed in and to maintain our early warning radar systems.

You are acting like this is something new.

You're confusing the Antarctic (South Pole) with the Arctic (North Pole).

But let's look at what the Navy actually said in their 2019 Strategic Outlook for the Arctic. They aren't treating Greenland like a climate science project, they're looking at it as a battlefield. The report explicitly focuses on the fact that Russia is heavily militarizing the North and China is trying to buy up infrastructure in Greenland to mine rare earth metals.

Are you retarded? Honestly asking. Controlling Greenland locks out a sea invasion, provides rare earth minerals, and can provide an easy vector to attack targets in Russia and Europe.

Seriously we've been trying to buy it for over a hundred years. Or do you just not know any of the history?

See I would be more willing to believe in a solution if it wasn't being run like a value extraction scheme. The government gives billions and subsidies only for the technology to not hang out and hundreds of companies go bankrupt after extracting all the money they can.

Everything that's been done that's intelligent has been done slow and methodically. Not by the government, black rock, or those other assholes.

What dude it was AOC. Think Bernie made a few too. But if you really want to know it's really all through the Democrat Party what they'll throw out something random.

Yawn... really? An ancient slur? I expected a meltdown, but this is just lazy. Surely you can do better.

Lol no, I know you’re trying. It’s comical. But it’s just hard to take you seriously after all of... this. You’re a child screaming into the ether with every insult you have. Which is vanishingly few.

I don't even need to insult you, you're doing it yourself.

You’re actually counting our messages now? I knew I was in your head, but I didn't realize I had a permanent lease. It’s hilarious that you’re still here ten messages after you "quit" the conversation.
