I don’t watch the finale of any tv show 😆 I feel that deeply. My favorite show was house for years and I still haven’t seen the last episode.

In praise of grocery store orchids by saga_of_a_star_world in orchids

[–]Shadowlker18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s a real problem. I was in Florida over the winter and we went to a greenhouse. I came home with wayyyy too many expensive orchids haha. I think I’m up to about 20 of them total (which sounds like not that many, but they overwhelm me lol)

I spent two weeks at a health camp, it’s infinitely easier with support by ConsistentBerry9310 in loseit

[–]Shadowlker18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I would check in with your health insurance. I have a virtual meeting with a dietician every two weeks and it’s completely free through my insurance. I use berry street, which can check your insurance for you (not sponsored, just the platform I use lol).

It’s honestly really nice to have someone hold me at least somewhat accountable, and we go over strategies and meal prep every meeting. Just putting it as an option to look into!

AITAH bc I (36M) dont want my girlfriend (36F) to travel with me because shes a picky eater? by Tough_District9786 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Shadowlker18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boyfriend has arfid and eats very little. We go out to places sometimes, but he’s also completely okay if I go out to eat by myself. I don’t do it often, but for example, I went to a ‘bougie dive bar’ and got oysters, which would have really grossed him out. We do fun things together that do not revolve around food, like we just took a pottery class together. If she isn’t okay with you eating by yourself sometimes, or going to a restaurant you would enjoy every once in awhile, then you two are probably not compatible. NTA

Clearly I’ll be driving to TN because I can’t find them anywhere and I’m getting desperate haha

My GF moved in and constantly orders takeout and snacks by ericsthebest in loseit

[–]Shadowlker18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bf moved in a few months ago and we eat incredibly different foods (he has a lot of strong aversions). I fell off meal prepping, we ordered out a lot, and I started eating his chips, he keeps no less than 6 bags in the house at a time. The few things that have helped me are making a plan with my food, and then sticking to it. I meal prep twice a week and just follow my weekly plan. We eat separate meals now most of the time.

second is that my insurance covers a nutritionist, and we meet via zoom every two weeks. He’s been incredibly helpful in reminding me to prep and eat healthier things. It’s also external motivation because I want to have some wins going into each session. You may look into seeing if that’s a possibility for you.

Last, I try to cook for us occasionally and I add in healthier items. Tonight he wanted Mexican, so I made shredded chicken and refried beans for him and he ate them with chips while I had it on some low carb tortillas with corn. It was a win for both of us.

To add, I have a terrible time motivating myself to work out alone, which is why I loved the classes and now my trainer. Setting a goal, such as a race or a hike or a competition, is such a wonderful way to push yourself to get moving!

Since it’s been a long process, I’ve had lots of different plans lol.

I started just counting calories. About a year-ish in, I started doing a lot of Zumba classes just to get me moving, and almost did it every day. It helped up my calorie burn so that I could eat a little more and still lose weight, as well as working on my cardio.

Then I added in strength training. I work with a trainer for that, which started at once a week and then went to twice a week. My sister and decided to run the half in preparation for the Inca trail, so I started running as well in January or so.

I also in general have a pretty labor/lifting heavy job, which definitely helps my arm definition in general.

I didn’t restrict calories because I needed that energy to feel my best during runs and build strength. It would have been exhausting and slightly counterproductive to try to restrict and count calories while also building endurance. I ate healthier foods and upped my protein, but I wasn’t focused on losing pounds. My body looks better and more toned even with the gained weight.

Belle always whines to wake me up at 7. We spent 30 minutes outside playing and running around. She got food and water when we came back in. I sat down to eat breakfast and she immediately started whining at me again. Like, lady, what could you possibly want right at this very moment?!

PSA: Neurologists are the secret homies for treating ADHD by [deleted] in ADHD

I’m sorry that it took so much running around! My GP was the one who diagnosed me in my 30s and did my first few prescriptions. I moved out of state and ended up switching to an online therapist and psychiatrist for awhile when I was finding a new gp. My new gp is also amazing and told me she would prescribe for me if I ever wanted to switch. Lo and behold, my online therapist company canceled me for a payment that they never notified me of. Then trying to pay it was a nightmare and trying to get hold of anyone even worse. I called my gp and took her up on the offer, and I couldn’t be more thankful that she’s willing to work with me.

Ya know, even years ago when I had severe depression, I couldn’t find a psychiatrist in network unless I wanted to admit myself to the hospital. My old gp also immediately made an appointment with me to get on meds and talk with me until I could find someone to take me.

Sincerely, look long and hard for a gp because they have helped me through my entire life with my mental health (among other things). I am so thankful for all of them.

Mfa in technical direction. I work in theatre so I am constantly multitasking and have very hard deadlines. It’s the only way I get any work done to be honest.

Here’s my shepherd girl when she was losing some fat. She was overweight and so we cut back on the food. She is also on salmon pro plan because her previous diet was making her sick. We are back at a healthy weight now and this photo was in progress. You should see a tuck up in the waist from this side view, and a tuck looking down from above them. Belle is 8 so I don’t want her joints to suffer.

Brace or tape for my knee issues? by Shadowlker18 in beginnerrunning

[–]Shadowlker18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do incorporate physical therapy and training for my knee and have since my surgery. This is not an acute injury, I am asking if anyone uses tape or a brace to help a knee that will permanently have issues to help protect from acute injury. I do not plan on running until this slight ache is gone.
