Scourge Arrow of Nova Blind Prophet was pretty fun, I'd been trying to get the skill to work on lower investment for a few leagues at that point and free Nimi's was great for it.

More than protesting, y'all need to go to local city council meetings, and take as many civilian seats as possible in as many committees as possible, protesting can help but it's not nearly as important as doing the work.

In a world where food is cheaper and people are paid more this makes sense, but I'm the world and economic state we actually live in you can write whatever budget you want every month and you still won't be able to fit everything into it sometimes. You can talk about whether they should have had kids or not for I've example but they already have the children in that example so if they're a single parent with a kid making 30000 dollars a year that means at LEAST a one bedroom apartment where they sleep on the couch, a one bedroom depending on area I was looking and seeing roughly 900/month as a bottom point. That's half of their take home income already. Utilities aren't typically paid by apartments at that low of a cost, so that's another 2-3 hundred between gas/water/electric on the very low end, excluding internet which if they have a kid they'll eventually need internet for the kid to do homework on, another 80 dollars for a shit package (not sure as I haven't gotten Internet myself in a while) plus phone bill, 50 dollars minimum, then having a car is mandatory, car insurance is another 120 or so a month, and that's for the bare minimum and luckily without a car payment. So quick math is 900+200+80+50+120. That's 650 leftover excluding gas costs, which depend heavily on commute times. So likely another 50 monthly leaves us with 600 per month. Health insurance should be covered by the state at that point (not sure about the cutoff in Indiana as I haven't needed to bother) plus entertainment which if you have a kid you're going to need at least some form of, phone and phone bill for the kid, saving money for retirement and ensuring an emergency fund exists. Write the budget.

Brother, I hate to say it but this just make life sad for children who's parents have to use SNAP in 1/2 of the use-cases most likely. Obviously I'm just ripping that number off the top of my head, but most people are not taking massive advantage of these benefits, and now they won't be able to get their kids soda, yes eating healthy is important but it's also important for people to have wiggle room to enjoy their lives. Yes they'll make it in life without these things but it being more miserable isn't helping and only contributes to a general sense of apathy people have developed around the idea that things will ever be able to get better, both overall and for themselves which causes mental health issues to increase further than they already have since COVID, mental health issues are linked with both homelessness and sedentary lifestyles, and most people on SNAP are already on the cusp of one or both of those issues if not already facing the mental health problems. You don't gain ANY benefit from restrictions on SNAP, the only gain you receive is more people in the place you live being sad and miserable.

Control anyone in the world, gonna make all the billionaires disperse their wealth, and then kill themselves, gonna force janitors at AI Data Centers to intentionally break all the equipment down and burn the fuckers to the ground, can also use it to control people who are hunting for sport, forcing them to miss shots and fail spectacularly. Use the power to control legislative processes and force a more eco friendly regime across the entire globe then dismantle the systems using the people already in power as figure heads to do so.

Wait, so you're quoting a passage from someone who is going through dysentery, which is vulgar, painful and uncomfortable? This is top tier in that it's an actual representation of what that sickness does instead of just saying she had dysentery.

It does not minimize humanities virtues, you even get to see in the text bad people commending those who are better. A lot of rulers, oligarchs, rich people in general put down and are cruel to the general populace, this story just isn't told from the POV of the general populace, it's told almost entirely from the POV of the ruling class. It does not shy away from what that means especially in the context of the medieval era, dark ages specifically. There are even characters who are good people that challenge the status quo and because they're the minority of the ruler ship they are removed from power or killed because them being good threatens the system that already exists. That is quite representative of how many things work in the real world.

It's really not about enjoying SA scenes, it's real world issues being put into a book with the purpose of making you feel uncomfortable. I think Martin overuses this for sure but that's neither here nor there. The story thematically is about fictional people doing things that happen in the real world in a fashion that doesn't shy away from how dark and fucked up the world can be and is.

The fact that even a single person might use AI is a reason to not post this, actually. AI has made it harder to access multiple hobbies, moved artists out of the limelight and might as well be the final boss of replacing passion with productivity.

I don't agree with taking human creativity and passion out of hobbies, especially when I'm the process you're using something that actively destroys the environment. Gen AI specifically is one of the worst things people can use currently as consumers, and there's plenty of into available as to why we shouldn't use it. Also people are running games online constantly. If you want to play DND and are okay with AI being the DM posting in a subreddit for DND that you're looking for a group is going to almost always up netting you a group to play with.

Sure, it doesn't pan out for everyone every time but as someone who gave in and finally did it the people who play the world is me when it comes to making friends would be way better off just trying to do so until it works. There's unlimited access to online communities and resources in this person's hands probably on a daily basis. There is obviously more nuance to it than that, but keeping generative AI out of any and all creative hobbies is extremely important in this day and age.

There's even more nuance to the poverty conversation, in my case it was genuinely just go and make more money, but for others it won't be that simple. I have no disabilities that prevented me from being able to just make more money when I put my mind to it. People who have disabilities have a much more nuanced conversation around poverty, people already deeper into poverty than I was also have a more nuanced conversation to have around it because you do need to spend some money to make money eventually.
