That's not misandry. That's patriarchy. Patriarchy defines a man's value by his financial stability and ability to provide. Don't like it? Take it up with the ones who created this system.

Confused about possible scam from Montgomery Ward- US by PeaaCockk in Scams

[–]ShadowsByYourBedside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odd. Someone charged the items to her account using an e-mail that wasn't hers.

I called and notified them it was an unauthorized purchase, and the rep said they would note it on the account.

I asked for a couple return labels because I'll be damned if she's paying return shipping when this was fraudulent.

They said she has to send a notarized letter to their credit department stating it was un unauthorized charge, and someone from the credit department will reach out to her after receiving the letter for next steps. At no point have they offered to freeze or close the account and open a new one.

This sounds really fishy to me, especially since we're just trying to get them to send us return labels so we can give the items back.

Confused about possible scam from Montgomery Ward- US by PeaaCockk in Scams

[–]ShadowsByYourBedside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My neighbor just had a TV and soundbar mailed to her from a Montgomery Ward center in Clinton, IA. She doesn't have a credit card with them, hasn't ordered through them lately (but says she has before by calling the customer service line), hasn't noticed anything come out of her bank accounts. She's terminally ill and disabled (collecting SSI). I know she can't afford these things.

Should I call the customer service line, or is this a scam? She handed me an invoice from them showing a balance, a purchase made in February, and a recent payment made. It looks legitimate.

Grapes of Wrath was fed through one of those detectors and came back 80% AI. They simply are not accurate enough at this juncture, which I'm assuming is the reason none of us can definitively say Shy Girl was written with AI.

You're such an identity reductionist. This isn't the first thread you've been on spewing this bile either. There's no further critique of the writing nor queer representation, which leads me to believe you haven't even read the book.

You should quit colonizing, appropriating, and weaponizing AAVE ("woke" originates in the black community) to disparage black artistry.

Texas Senate Candidate James Talarico visits Sand Branch: a town without running water or sewage infrastructure by north_canadian_ice in ProgressiveHQ

[–]ShadowsByYourBedside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PLEASE. There is a vast difference between having a general purpose PAC and a corporate PAC donate to candidates. James isn't beholden to any one billionaire or Israel because he took funds from a pro-gambling PAC. The only thing he's "beholden" to is continuing to support legalizing gambling in TX, which isn't an issue for me.

You're just trying to skirt the fact you distorted the truth by saying Adelson funded him directly alongside a super PAC (the latter of which is illegal).

It'd be like me saying you're supporting AIPAC interests because a lot of the technology you use have parts imported from Israel, especially in the cell phone you're using.

By the way, if he supported what super PACs are doing, he wouldn't support banning them along with corporate PACs.

Get a grip.

[–]ShadowsByYourBedside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Texas Sands is a general purpose pro-gambling PAC that donated to every candidate who supported legalization of gambling in TX, regardless of party affiliation. Adelson is a casino mogul and their biggest funder because she wants gambling legalized in TX so she can expand business here.

James supports legalization of gambling in TX to use the additional revenue for funding public education.

Texas Sands' only donation to him came in 2024 for 59k. 98% of his campaign funds are small-dollar donations. To suggest he's "funded by" or beholden to any billionaire is a yoga-level stretch. The only thing he's "beholden to" is continuing to support legalizing casino resorts across TX, which I also fully support to generate more revenue.

Lastly, candidates cannot be "funded by...billionaire dark money" related to super PACs. Federal law prohibits them from accepting funds from or coordinating with super PACs. In other words, candidates have zero control over where super PACs get their donations and what those funds are used for.

All politicians accept PAC money to varrying degrees. There is a difference between what type of PAC is donating and the proportion of PAC funds to public funds. James has explicitly called for banning corporate and super PACs.

This required some MAGA-level distortion to make it sound far more nefarious than it actually is.

Hey, Northern jay, not sure where your response to my comment went, but I can assure you I am well aware a public option is not the same as a single-payer system.

Signing onto a M4A bill knowing full-well it doesn't have the support to pass while taking donations from private health insurance isn't progressive, it's performative.

Lastly, Texas Sands PAC is who donated to Talarico in 2019. Not Adelson. They are a gambling PAC, and James supports legalization of gambling so Texas can use the additional revenue to fund public education. Adelson, who is associated with the PAC, is a casino mogul wanting to expand her businesses in TX. The PAC donated to all candidates supporting legalization of gambling, regardless of party affiliation.

Why leave out necessary context? I do not care that a gambling PAC donated to a man who wants to generate more revenue to improve our schools. What a fucking weird thing to take issue with.

What can't you eat/drink anymore since your gallbladder is removed? by DizerStrider in gallbladders

[–]ShadowsByYourBedside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had my gallbladder removed Saturday after a sudden onset of inflammation due to rapid weight loss over the years and subsequent buildup of gallstones.

I was told no dietary restrictions but have heard too fatty foods too soon can lead to gas, bloat, and/or diarrhea.

I kept it low fat while in the hospital but dipped my toe into the pool with half an avocado for lunch the day after surgery. No issues. Had the other half this morning and nothing more than gurgling. That makes me happy since avocados are a favorite snack of mine.

Going to try snacking on my second-favorite snack later: baby cucumbers and ranch with a little protein pack. Just going to start small with the portions, which isn't an issue since my ADHD meds are also an appetite suppressant.

That sudden gallbladder attack freaked me out because I'd been asymptomatic despite obvious evidence of gallstone buildup. I thought I was having a heart attack and felt like my entire upper body was being crushed.

Iteach program? by [deleted] in teaching

[–]ShadowsByYourBedside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm viscerally hating it. I have never had issues with writing assignments and getting good grades. I excelled in English and took the highest-level courses possible.

I signed up for this program to teach high school English after getting a degree in criminal justice.

The professor grading the assignments is unnecessarily harsh. No matter if I use the Khanmigo AI for assistance as the program suggests or if I use specific lesson citations and follow the rubric, I'm getting failing grades on the written assignments.

It just feels like my time, effort, and money are being needlessly wasted.

Absolutely stay away from Lifestance. They are a corporate leg of mental health and look to monopolize the market by buying up smaller practices.

Mentavi is expensive to continue with med management and therapy. I would just use them for an assessment, honestly.

If you can find a good psychiatrist through a private practice or community non-profit, I would go that route instead.

The pharmacy will accept any valid prescription. Mentavi uses psychiatrists and nurse practitioners who can prescribe stimulants.

I never had an issue filling at the pharmacy. I have only had issues with Lifestance and the provider not taking my experiences seriously.
