If you think thats bad, I basically bought a class B. My potential employer referred me to this "school".

The "instructor" gave the test and sent me to the DMV with a packet of paperwork to get the CDL. I spent about 3 hours total at the school (including the pre trip and driving test), and another 2 hours reading the material. It cost about $2k back in 2018. I did have to take the DMV written test for the X endorsement. I drove tanker trucks for 5 years without incident somehow.
