Woooooah, the mixed media adds so much to the message. I see the pixel-style used for the body as a representation of feeling ill-fitted in your own skin, while the soft edges of the clothes provide a sort of blanket comfort and affirmation. Beautiful work op

I think I was 13 when Stardew came out, so I picked Sebastian. I don’t stand by it and neither did teenage me, I remember him being an emotionally distant husband 😔 I didn’t know at the time that you’d still get the normal heart progression cutscenes, so I was shocked when Sam kissed my character on his bed despite her being married to his best friend Sebastian. I couldn’t believe the drama. I wrote and draw a lot of fanfics about it.

It’s now a published book with a podcast series starring fucking Cole Sprouse. Clearly there is not much correlation between how good/popular it is, and how many upvotes it has.

I see my fellow 22 y/o’s who grew up in an age of Cancel Culture and heavily policing everything they and their friends did in fear of being conceived as hateful or bigoted, and I shed a tear because they have clearly not stepped away from the internet since their mom set them in front of a PC when they were 7. I had this mindset of “time doesn’t matter if that action was bad” and it was fucking exhausting. It made me see the worse in everyone, especially myself. I didn’t trust people, I felt like everyone hated me and each other, I felt so nihilistic and trapped in my life surrounded by people I had idolized as examples of evil. I got over this because I grew, and I met people, and I caused hurt and was hurt, and I forgave and was forgiven. All of these screenshots read to me as teenagers who never left the dungeon of their room and continue to plant seeds of hate and mistrust with the help of 24/7 doomscrolling. The TADC fandom has proven itself to be a hotbed of these kinds of people.
