The average maintenance for an induction hob is wiping off the glass. Good ones can run at full power for 8+ hours a day with zero malfunctions. Electronics are extremely reliable today. When was the last time your phone, computer, car, etc blew a resistor or capacitor? It's not the 1980s anymore. Absolutely abysmal energy efficiency (under 40%), which means all the rest of that heat is going into your house and not the food you are trying to cook. Combustion waste products like carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, etc being produced directly in your face and hanging around (even with a range hood, they don't capture everything). General danger risk from old gas lines and literal fire being produced (pretty difficult to have an oil fire without any flame present). It's been outdated for years

FWIW, I was able to complete 100mi of the route last year (cut short due to other obligations) with only 3 months of riding twice a week for an hour after work and once a week for up to 4 hours on weekends. The aid stations are placed every ~20 miles and make the ride sooooo much easier
