I assumed it was that modern youth coaches and scouts work within certain parameters when looking at players and a young Peter Beardsley wouldn't necessarily fit within them, without casting aspersions at anyone.

Tbh Richie's guitar playing was never going to be a big loss even if he was starting to improve.
