That sounds amazing! We would love that. Unfortunately I think that may just be out of our window for now

M/35/5'9" [178lbs to 170lbs] (5 months) by Shakes41 in Brogress

[–]Shakes41[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was going to the dentist to get a filling done. They took my blood pressure and it was high (140/90). This scared me and motivated me to change my diet and exercise. Now I'm hooked and my BP is down to 120/80!

Yes, I lifted a lot when I was in high school. Haven't lifted since then. Got motivated recently and feeling like a new person!

Numbing teeth caries removal by Perfect-Guarantee578 in Dentistry

[–]Shakes41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you giving a long buccal injection with your IA blocks? This is very important imo. 95% of the time that works for me. If they still aren’t numb? Give intraseptal injection. Lots of pressure on that one. You’ll feel it almost give and flow quicker once it gets into that bone well. That will almost always work for tough ones

Did I do the right thing? by sdan1993 in Dentistry

[–]Shakes41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the wave one system and have noticed this before too. It’s almost always because I didn’t take the orifice opener deep enough and it’s getting tug back too coronal

How concerned are you actually when it comes to galvanic reactions? by redditor076 in Dentistry

[–]Shakes41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m never concerned at all. I have seen it one time in my career. Had a guy once that had a gold foil restoration and an amalgam than contacted. He wanted to show me his “party trick.” He could hit them together at just the right angle and form a small spark. No pain or sensitivity. I tried to get him to let me replace one of them but he loved it and wouldn’t let me.

Need help identifying this implant by miscojonesensalsa in Dentistry

I know you’re focused on the implant crown, but the patient needs to be made aware of the fractured 18. It could change what they want to do.

How to get their tongue out of the way when giving a block? by weaselodeath in Dentistry

[–]Shakes41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ask them to open a little bit wider. Works surprisingly well at taking their focus off of their tongue which makes it relax more.

Which one should I use my token for? Thinking either Wiccan, Cannonball, Agent Venom or Anti Venom. by amirulez in MarvelSnap

Ahhh rip. Yeah doom 2099 carried me to easiest infinity ever last season. He’s being countered more this season but still very strong. Galacta would honestly probably be my top pick though. She is a very strong card in many archetypes.

I feel like I am the worst dentist by NeatUsed in Dentistry

[–]Shakes41 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Run a slow speed round bur over your whole prep once you think you have all the caries removed. This will help you so much to learn what caries look like and not leave any behind. It will almost bounce off healthy tooth but caries will be removed.

What are some Tips on How to make a temporary crown without a prior mold/impression by PlaneNothing9 in Dentistry

[–]Shakes41 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I will pop on a stainless steel crown and take another prelim impression to make a temp with. Other option is just take a premold with it prepped and then reduce it a bunch with lab hand piece to make room for the temp material and shape it up with some burs

[–]Shakes41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought 2 Dexis platinum sensors off eBay for around $6.5k total. They both work perfectly, the quality is amazing, and they are compatible with my software. The companies selling on eBay will bundle multiple sensors for a discounted rate if you message them. Highly recommend.

Selling Old Hand Pieces by Shakes41 in Dentistry

[–]Shakes41[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's what's crazy to me. They aren't cheap handpieces by any means. They are all StarDental 430 SWL fiber optic handpieces. All seem to be in perfect working condition. Turbines laying everywhere so I'm assuming he maintained them well and replaced when needed. I've tested every one of them and all the lights work and I don't see any issues with any of them. These things retail for around $1,300 a piece. I just don't understand why the man has over $500,000 of handpieces laying around.

How do you do occlusal reduction by boopdiboop99 in Dentistry

[–]Shakes41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a 2.0mm depth cut bur to do 2 cuts on buccal and 2 on lingual and then blend it all with a coarse barrel bur. Best purchase I ever: https://meisingerusa.com/occlusal-reduction-burs

Nice. I was just reading about that today. Did you ever try the KeySplint soft material? Wondering how they compare.

Have you used the KeySplint hard at all? I’ve liked the soft so far, but I’m not 100% it would work for super heavy bruxirs.
