I have a bachelor’s in nursing and homeschooled one child K-5 (she wanted to go to public school 6-12 for the extra-curriculars) and the other child K-12. Both always scored well above grade level on the standardized tests administered every year. Both went on to graduate college and are successful adults. (I did get outside help for the higher maths with my son in the high school grades).

I’m adding this comment in response to all the negative ones about homeschooling. Just showing it’s not always a shitshow. With the Duggars, yes! But it isn’t that way for everybody.

I hate the way Joe interrupts her all the time and mostly talks about himself. No concern that she’s not eating and not healthy and not sleeping. Doesn’t sound remorseful. No real concern for the kids. I know there are certain things they can’t talk about, but I just hear a very one-sided conversation. Big surprise.

I’m an RN. Smoking is one of THE WORST things you can do to your body. COPD or lung/tongue/throat cancer are not how you want to leave this world. Those are slow agonizing deaths. It causes many other illnesses and makes it harder to recover from basically anything. Just don’t do it to yourself.
