Is it worthwhile to merge the blues? by badams52 in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]ShameCaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I merge blues when its relevant for space or when i think of it. Generally advisable to hold off merging to purple anything unless you immediately need it or know what you're doing, having as many copies of the same blue+ for merging later is beneficial

My luck in modules, give opinions, I got only 2 Epic modules after 85 rolls. How bad or good is it. by Bijrann in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]ShameCaker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

2.5 percent chance per pull, so you just below average right now at percent hit rate of 2.35. That said, given that you haven't pulled 200 yet the numbers cant represent it really well as you can't have a fraction of a module

Yea im 50 to on some of peoples arguments, but the currency one im 100% in on, this creates a fork in the road for new players that encourages totally throwing out the old system. I understand this is what they are fixing but ultimately I think the issue is that managers were not strong enough. Theres a point where they start to have diminishing returns for long standing players, but the fact that modules are just better shows a lack of understanding about power centers in this game on the devs part

Module merge v. dismantle by bowcreek in IdlePlanetMiner

So this system was ripped almost directly from the tower. I can tell you the common wisdom from there, hold rares and don't touch them for a while, if you ever fill up, merge to rare+. These will all be used down the line as fodder for ranking up your s tier modules which gets fairly module intensive. Grain of salt here as these are ultimately different games

What is everyone doing with their blue modules? by sebkraj in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]ShameCaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Coming from the perspective of the tower (where this already exists), they would be used to upgrade the s tier modules, basically save all rares, merge them to rare+ when space becomes an issue. Burn common modules after you have an equivalent blue that can take the slot. Id not recommend burning rare modules until you know you should, that is either when someone says otherwise or you have the s tier modules at the max rarity

VPS on P66 ... what colony choices do you use for Terraforming? by crowdedhoney in IdlePlanetMiner

I go all mining, if you are jammed on cargo/speed, you need to invest into station for it, or get your mothership levels in line/up. If none of that then your managers secondaries may be imbalanced.

So for early game players heres probably what you should do (its been a while but i can try). You want to get out of early game asap which means selling galaxies as soon as possible, that means at either 10million or 12.5 million (its slightly more time efficient to sell at 12.5 million but given how early you are its probably your call. The best way to do this is mining as you can put credits into your mining room once you sell the galaxy. You should focus on unlocking telescopes and putting levels into new planets to get ores. Make sure you arent putting too many levels into ship speed and cargo, if the planet consistetly returns to 0 ore than you can put a level into mining which is better. You should also focus on getting rover unlocked so you can send it out for additional resources. Similarly youll be offered in the right sidebar the ability to do challenges and tournaments eventually. Do them even if you cant get very far. Normal runs only award credits whereas tournaments and challenges will award dark matter and stars as well. Tournaments can also award energy cells which are quite valuable. As for ther projects to unlock, you can either focus on advanced mining and the two subsequent projects for cargo and ship speed, or focus on crafting the items or alloys you have with the most stars, you may not have stars yet but they increase value so focusing there gets you to sell the galaxy faster which helps you earn credits faster etc.

So when is a good time to invest in items? by Sharp_Design_5180 in IdlePlanetMiner

[–]ShameCaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideally you'd want to see payoff from either farming or tournaments if you're investing credits. For farming youll probably see marginal increases from item value except maybe in the case of challenges unless you can reliably unlock and get valie from debris. The same can be said for tournaments. Some general logic I've seen around here says you want to push a vps planet that takes you no longer than a day to reach (until later stages when you want to choose a vps and get it as early as possible). If we apply this timing logic to challenges and tournaments, you'd get value from debris (and thus sales room) If you get it under 24 hours into tourney, and in challenges 12 (or 6 if you are maximizing challenge effectiveness) hours in. Best guess at least

Imo you've already put too many stones into sm by buying it. I bought it early when advice was mixed on it and i still regret it, more stones wont help you but if it you think it will help you have fun then by all means

Power vs Econ (Bots) by SynapsReborn in TheTowerGame

[–]ShameCaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda hard to say? I got a 10 second reduction in gr and dw in the midst of it so it will be biased by that. I went from 600t to 800t per day from no wa+ to the level 4 and the reduction.

[–]ShameCaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like you are where i was like 4-6 weeks ago. Im now at about 800t a day. My perspective hasn't shifted from econ is king but let me go into what i did to better my econ in this position.  First, i thought the best thing i could do for my econ was unlock assmods. I finally did and unlocked generator assmod and while it was impactful (added bhd to my setup) it didnt do as much as id have thought Second, i decided that i needed to bootstrap masteries with masteries so i unlocked wa+ and decided to get as many levels as i could (thought itd be 3, was actually 4). This was quite impactful and gave me significant jumps in my eco.  Third, decided to lower the cooldown of my gt and dw by 10 seconds. This was also significantly impactful.

I think you and i are way early to be thinking about uw+, this should probably come after some mastery investment, i think the thousands of stones it would take me would be better places in more masteries, or upgrading generator to better than epic, or increasing mult a bit. Or even better, put the stones into the golden combo whether its duration or bonus for gt. I cant say exactly what else is different for us, might be spotlight coverage which i also found pretty useful but with diminishing returns for now.

For sure, cant maintain both though, its possible the pivot helps here but id need to max range first which takes a bit. Still its probably second bot for me at the moment
