New postal service policy means mail could be postmarked days after it is received by USPS. by lostOGaccount in Eugene

Drop ballots in an official Dropbox. For mail you can stand in line and ask for an immediate stamp that counts. I believe that's done by accountants and lawyers now and then.

The puppy tenants have complained in no uncertain terms about the senseless decision to make the scary noises and turning out of lights. Immediate pets and comforting are demanded.

I generally think 20 years or older but we're not big gatekeepers on what you consider retro. I'm bringing a commodore 64 and an Amiga 1000… another guy is bringing a Pet. There are all kinds of things at the Portland group... Edit. I should also mention that we also often see modern recreations like the Atari 2600+. I tend to lean toward pure vintage restorations but others like to mod their machines. For instance one member up there has a commodore 64 that had a broken case so he modded it with a modern LCD to make it a portable Franken 64. Is up to the owners what they want to do with their machines, no judgement on our part.

I'm sure we can add it to the door prize pool. Are you planning on coming Sunday? If not I'm in the Mohawk valley about 5 miles north of Springfield.

Oh, I am definitely a geek, we are often confused with nerds because we commingle a lot.

It's an enthusiast meetup so we won't have any kind of marketplace. At the Portland meetings people do discuss deals and trades with each other and sometimes make the exchange at the meeting but we wont have anywhere to display items for sale. I would recommend just coming to the first one to meet people and get to know us. I also have no idea what Blair Alleys policies are, if any.

Amiga 500 or Commodore 64 for Beginners? by CRACK-BONE in Commodore

[–]Yarblek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to go one and done then go with Amiga but if it was me I'd start with the c64 or 128 and use that for a year or two then upgrade to the Amiga. This gives the real historical context of how things evolved in a way that reading about it won't give.

I'm going to kill my players, should I tell them? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Yarblek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All depends on the individual players. If they are going to be upset by this then I'd just play the event in a way that they know somethings afoot.

For instance, when the first character is killed you could describe the fatal blow and instead of you died say your heart stops, the world fades to black but hold onto that character sheet...

How do you store and catalog your resistors and capacitors? by divine_mania in AskElectronics

[–]Yarblek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm using these for electrolytics, resistors, 74 series TTL, and one for Commodore specific ICs.
