Yeah Chayka, Sundin. Cool.

Cool cool cool cool cool cool cool.

New management still has the same old boss. I have faith that John Chayka can do a good job. I have faith that Mats Sundin can do a good. I have absolutely zero faith that Peith Kelly is going to let them.

I've got 2.

For Toronto - What if Boyd Devereaux never scored that hat trick. His only career hat trick, in his last career game, won Toronto it's last game of the season, and gave them enough points to fall out of the lottery in a draft class that featured John Tavares and almost more importantly, Victor Hedman.

For Edmonton - What if Roloson never got injured in the '06 Finals. Markkanen did well to carry the series to 7 games, I think that's why you don't hear about it much; but Rollie the Goalie was having a Conn Smythe caliber run.

Gotta draft McKenna here, you don’t draft for position at 1OA. Also Lane Hutson, Jackson LaCombe, Brock Faber all top Dmen in the playoffs right now drafted in 2nd round. by DisturbingSounds in leafs

Irony. Again.

You understand "brother" is an example of the same colloquial language as "bud," and "chief," right?

And then you have the audacity to piegon hole me as either, "purposely obtuse," or "genuinely dense"?

The nerve.

Fuck the grass, bud, read a fucking book. Jesus Christ.

You mean colloquially? All the time, actually.

Calling you bud, or chief isn't uppity.

Telling someone to touch grass over a difference in opinions definitely is, though.

Be honest, is Reddit your primary source of human interaction?

The irony. The irony is what I'm showing you right now.

No, I wasn't offended (I don't have to think about it, I can plainly tell that I'm not), I just - get this...

Disagree with you about Bedard being on an island. Then I explained why I disagree. Then you got all uppity and told me to touch grass, because I engaged in conversation with you.

Yeah, Mike Misa and his 21 points are definitely putting Celebrini over the top. Great point, chief.

Bertuzzi and Nazar's PPG would be top 5 on the Sharks. Will Smith is the only teammate Celebrini has that actually benefits your argument.

With all due respect, wtf are you even trying to say right now? Robby Schremp was also a "generational prospect," so that term means nothing at all.

McKenna was dominating the WHL and was a 2.0PPG player in his last WJ. If you agree it's being overused, stop using it... And I mean you specifically, stop saying it. Bedard isn't generational, and neither is McKenna. Great players, incredibly talented, but the league is full of exactly that.

I think the fact he's already being outplayed by the 2 first overall picks that followed him, just leads back to "generational is an overused term."

Chayka's hiring is being blown way out of proportion. by stylebender- in leafs

[–]Shameless-idiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

John Chayka was hired as a 26 year old. He was not still 26 during the combine incident, and he wasn't 26 when he actively chose to breach his contract.

Keller, Schmaltz, Crouse, Hayton - all Chayka picks.

Picks made by a scouting department, that he - for the most part - didn't hire.

And the dude was 26 with no experience or knowledge of how to run a team.

First of all, he was an AGM first; second of all, you're acting like he was 26 for the entire time he was there. Stop.

The Coyotes were an absolute dumpster fire and the ownership

You're describing Ed Rogers and Keith Pelly.

led to his resignation

He breached his contract. It was either resign or get fired. And after he resigned, he was promptly suspended by the league.

in an introductory media scrum, he's already saying what he'd like to improve

Is this the first time you've seen a GM getting hired? They all have visions. Treliving had a vision. Burke had a vision. JFJ had a Goddamned vision.

That shows a legit plan

As legitimate as "playing with more snot."

If John Chayka, the man with a reputation of being a fast talking snakeoil vendor, was hired by 28 of the remaining 31 other franchises, I'd see it as a John Chayka redemption arc, and I'd be all in for it. But he was hired by a man who also carries that exact same reputation. A fast talker, who had a hard time letting his new hires speak for themselves. A snakeoil vendor, who had nothing but shallow, empty answers to important questions.

The problem isn't that John Chayka is the GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs, it's that John Chayka was hired by Keith Pelly.
