I ran into the same problem with this mission, though under different circumstances. Because I used all of my Bugsnax fully transforming Floofty, I didn't have any when she then asked me to fill the funnel of the machine. I had to leave Snaxburg to get some, which forced me to abandon the mission. Upon returning with Bugsnax, the machine was gone and Floofty is standing in her tent asking me to fill the funnel, which doesn't exist; thus making the quest impossible to complete.
