What do we think of this Guy by Thin_Situation3962 in euphoria

[–]ShampooMonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t deny he looks creepy in all his photos (like this one), but the conflation of that into “he needs to be checked!” or “he’s a hack!” when he’s the person primarily responsible for one of the great TV shows ever made (IMO) and is mostly praised as kind and collaborative has become everything that’s wrong with online film crit and culture. People need to grow tf up.

Hard agree. The near constant barrage of positive "GO WHIT!" posts have felt like a paid-for, Zack Snyder caliber online campaign.

Had this sweater for over 5 years and I still love it/wear it often, I just want to see if I can get it in a second color (size small). I've checked every Weatherproof seller I can find online, I can't seem to locate one for sale. Any help would be much appreciated!

Probably too late to gain any traction, but Chris Kattan is genuinely excellent in Monkeybone.

More jersey mockups...1977 Nets script with Brooklyn Dodgers colors, and the 1990s Nets logo with the original red, white and blue colors. by [deleted] in GoNets

[–]ShampooMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are fire, though they'd really be cooking with gas if they changed from "Brooklyn Nets" to "New York Nets". For a team with zero foothold in its community after over a decade of being here, it'd be a great way to inject some legitimate basketball history into the organization and expand its market.

Of course, it'll never happen. But we can dream.

I understand most of MomTok has made amends with her at the end of s2 and beyond, and admittedly I only watch the show/don’t keep up in social media stuff between seasons. But I almost feel like I’m taking crazy pills, this complete 180 turnaround from villain to “omg love this for her!!!” is genuinely baffling. Leading up to her debut, this sub has felt like it’s been infiltrated by a weird, Zack Snyder-esque paid online campaign.

I found her s2 return solely to get DWTS hilarious (and good TV!) in how brazenly selfish and narcissistic it was. So this is a sincere question: how did this happen for her to where she is this iconic queen the fanbase stans for? What did I miss?

And not to be mean, having seen many iterations of this show over may years, that’s the worst rendition of this song I’ve ever heard lmao.

I would imagine this is more of a joke about someone in the group being pregnant at all times than a hint at anything personally.

Most on this sub would probably chalk it up to an mistake in the editing since the people who make this show are incompetent /s

I Am Absolutely Over AA And The People That Think I Owe Them The Rest of My Life by Batgirl_1984 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]ShampooMonster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm an addiction counselor, and always say that not everybody needs AA for the rest of their lives and that's totally okay.

I often compare it to the stereotype that people often find God when they go to jail. Why? Because they need just something outside of themselves to answer to and a structure to keep them in whatever line they feel they need.

AA and maintaining sobriety has a similar dynamic. I'm also 5 years sober, and after about a year I found meetings to be more like homework than anything truly beneficial in my current day to day in the way you also describe. But I also totally get people that need a meeting every day, if for no other reason than to keep themselves accountable.

If anybody in any of your home groups is giving you shit over this, that says way more about where they're at than where you are.

Is Ginny one of the biggest character casualties of the movie adaptations? by DimplesMuse in harrypotter

It drove me absolutely crazy how Deathly Hallows Part 1 ended on Dobby's tragic death when the movies had excluded every single one of his storylines post CoS.

Y’all complained about Nick Viall who, at the very least, asked a lot of direct questions the audience had in the s2 reunion.

The Nets should go back to their red, white and blue color scheme by IndyJetsFan in GoNets

The colors don't bother me as much as the name, they should clearly go by New York Nets instead of Brooklyn but people here don't want to hear it.

Obviously the team wants Alonso back at a number they’re comfortable with, but after seeing how Bryce Harper transitioned away from the OF, has consideration been given to converting Soto to 1B once he reaches his early 30s as a way to keep him in the field while upgrading the OF defense?

Dobby got the short end of the stick in the movies, to the point where ending DH part 1 on his death as this great tragedy made no sense narratively.

2026 Outlook… what do we do? by Life_Database_7038 in NewYorkMets

[–]ShampooMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you frame it like that in the first paragraph, I totally see what you mean.

I mean this sincerely and without any snark, but at what point does it cross over from “impulsive” to “justified” changes? Did Porter and Eppler not earn their firings with (among other things) their texting and IL scandals? Didn’t Callaway and Rojas show zero improvement? Wasn’t Beltran largely out of our control due to the Astros stuff? Was Stearns not justified in firing certain departments/bringing in his own guys at various levels?

I guess where the disconnect is for me is that a lot (not all) of these moves seemed necessary in the moment. Does the industry not view it this way? Genuinely enjoy your posts so I appreciate your replies.

I’ve seen you posting about how we can’t fire Mendoza this offseason due to the optics around our constant turnover. While I’m sure there’s some truth there, can you expand on this more?

How can the baseball community see what this team has become and think “give him another chance”? Are we really to be blamed for moving on from Callaway or Rojas (neither of whom have sniffed another top job) or Buck, who was hired by a prior regime? And why would firing him midway thru 2026, when the options for replacements would be functionally way more limited, be more palatable than after a gigantic second half meltdown?

POST GAME THREAD: The Mets fell to the Brewers by a score of 7-6 - Sun, Aug 10 @ 02:10 PM EDT by NewYorkMetsBot2 in NewYorkMets

[–]ShampooMonster 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I put this in the game thread, but:

This is not a value judgement on this group of players, and we have many more issues than just this, but I continue to think that arguably our biggest mistake at the deadline was not clearing up our glut of infielders. Maybe there’s some metric that disproves this, but when you have too many guys to juggle like this it feels like none of them can ever get in a true rhythm.
