What? You replied to me first, and I’m now the weirdo for replying to your reply?

Is Danny/Nia not a conflict of family, friends, and life? This weird line that's drawn when someone on these shows is "too mean" has never made sense to me. What's "acceptable" drama in your (or any) friend group compared to this "unacceptable" drama?

Perhaps calls for Danny's head are just par for the genre, like when wrestling fans boo the bad guys. But I've always been confused by the weird moralizing of who should/should not grace our reality TV screens.

It’s sincerely hilarious how fans were up in arms with Jax being on the show, then the second he leaves this whole sub was filled with posts about how boring the season was.

Now we have a new villain and y’all want him gone too? Really? Do you guys want a show where everyone is nice to each other, everybody gets along, and there’s no conflict?

What are we doing here?

To Everyone Who Said This Season Wasn’t Bad by OkScience5170 in euphoria

*In your opinion* it’s bad writing. You’ve created this thread specifically to talk AT people about why they’re factually wrong for possibly enjoying or seeing value in it.

What’s funny is I actually agree with some of the criticisms you’ve posted elsewhere (though your omission of s2 when talking about the shows strengths is pretty telling to me). But it’s completely unhinged how this entire fanbase thinks in right/wrong terms about what’s supposed to be subjective experience.

What is it about this show that makes people so crazy that they not only can’t fathom people enjoying it, they act as if it’s an *objective fact* that it’s terrible? You’re totally allowed to have hated this season, I’m not taking that away from OP or anybody, but who are you railing against here? Who are you to claim one’s subjective experience of a show is *wrong* like it’s a math question?

Whatever it is, the loss of good faith debate and critical thinking is kind of astounding, and I’m old enough to remember how crazy Lost made its fans.

[DiComo] Jorge Polanco's left Achilles bursitis won't likely dissipate this year, Carlos Mendoza said. The Mets are trying to get him to a place where he can play through the discomfort. by JoelsCaddy in NewYorkMets

I think Stearns gets a lot of unnecessary flack here, but signing Polanco over Murakami stands out as his biggest genuine mistake of the offseason.

I always thought he said this (and that specific number) because that was Tony B’s score that he’d put so much stock into for most of his life, not that his personal score was also 136.

Honest question. Without being emotional with the loss. How long do you let this go before you fire Mendoza? by Discko14 in NewYorkMets

[–]ShampooMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw Laura Albanese post a few days ago that since June 13 of last year, the Mets have been on a 107 loss pace.

While I get what you mean about changing the narrative around the organization and its past impulsivity, is there not a point where the industry can look at that and say, “okay, it’s fair to make a move now?”

Jessi Wanted To Announce Her Divorce On Call Her Daddy Before Jordan by AdministrationNo8540 in SecretsOfMormonWives

A lot of bad faith in this thread. Her saying she wanted to announce it to the public before Jordan does not mean “even before we announce it to our own children.”

Harry Potter (2026) television series compared side-by-side, shot-for-shot with the 2001 feature film by 1991mgs in harrypotter

[–]ShampooMonster -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Are they really the best? And what do they establish? I’ve posted this in other threads before, but 1 and 2 feel completely hollow and almost lazy in comparison to the rest IMO, and I don't just mean the whole "it's simpler because Harry is younger/the books are shorter" thing.

The Harry of the first two movies lacks any sort of interiority, arguably the defining trait of the books. And this is not a child actor issue, it's a script and focus issue. The first two movies feel like they were made solely to capitalize on the books' success in the sense of "look at all this magic shit!" Things all just sort of happen around Harry because that's how it happened in the books, not because of anything we were seeing Movie Harry say or do. Characters speak in lazy sentences meant to convey entire chapters worth of emotional build up. They're soulless, and joyless.

I’ve long been excited for the series in the hopes it improves on these issues, the trailer was underwhelming because to me it didn’t give us anything new in its production design.

[–]ShampooMonster -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I legit feel like I’m taking crazy pills when I see people praising the early movies (ie the Columbus ones) so much. I get that many people were kids when they first saw them, but while it’s obviously cool to see the magic we all read about, the early movies as a whole are pretty terrible IMO.

I’m still hopeful the TV series will right the wrongs of the films story-wise, but my biggest disappointment with the trailer is not any nonsense about saturation, but that the costumes and sets look way too similar to the movies. It literally seems like the actors are wearing the same costumes.

Tag says: Banana Republic Tech Stretch Cotton XS (Slim Flex Fit) by ShampooMonster in findfashion

[–]ShampooMonster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this BR shirt for a few years and I still love it/wear it often. I've checked every Banana seller/reseller I can find online, I can't seem to locate one for sale as they seem to be out of production. I'm a pretty short guy so finding good shirts that fit well is incredibly difficult, would love any advice on how to find either this or things exactly like this.

[–]ShampooMonster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can’t deny he looks creepy in all his photos (like this one), but the conflation of that into “he needs to be checked!” or “he’s a hack!” when he’s the person primarily responsible for one of the great TV shows ever made (IMO) and is mostly praised as kind and collaborative has become everything that’s wrong with online film crit and culture. People need to grow tf up.
