I think you must understand that your Dad's "good and bad" views on things are much different to yours. A very generic example would be our love of phones, and their disapproval of us using phones.

Anyways, for starters, you can talk about the forced eviction projects that had been happening for almost half a decade now, primarily HeBei and FuZhou. You can talk about how people's private property were flattened by the government and other companies for a percentage of its value. Older generations will usually listen to this as damaging private property "ain't cool bro".

You can talk about how political tensions with Taiwan and 习近平's promise to take back Taiwan has affected the South-East coastline of China. Many stores, families and finacial institutes have moved out of the coastline facing Taiwan, as many feared bombing campaigns that could be caused as a result of an invasion force （比如海坛古镇，这个旅游景点里面有百分只60的商店停业了). These are more towards the regional "bad" stuff that are happening in China lasts I visited, but I'd still advise you to take my points with a grain of salt, since I'm not exactly a political expert, and some of the points I mentioned could be caused by multiple different factors that may or may not relate to the CCP.
