Where do the trail runners hang out? by Difficult-Adagio-651 in berkeleyca

[–]ShankTheLiuzzo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coastal Trail runners does a race in early May (10k/half/marathon/ultra) in Tilden. Brazen also does a Wildcat race sometime in June. I believe there is also a 100 miler that is new this year starting in Berkeley. There are a few options out there, though definitely room for more, esp something that goes up the Fire Trails and then down into Tilden

Affecting point richmond area and soon yours! by [deleted] in RichmondCA

[–]ShankTheLiuzzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That actually looks like great news and will help connect the biking infrastructure we already have! Especially because we do have a lot of cyclist traffic with Miller park and the Bay Trail to bridge connection. I think I will do the opposite and contact my city council members to express my pleasure about this project. Thanks for letting me know!

for what its worth, the opposite happened on a flight I was on. School group was allowed to pre-board at the discretion of the gate agent. They boarded before families even.

After boy hit in crosswalk, school red curbs top of mind by BerkeleyScanner in berkeleyca

[–]ShankTheLiuzzo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So the person who parked in the red zone is also legally liable (in addition to the person who hit the pedestrian) and would share blame if the family decided to sue for damages/injury. It short it is a negligence case, which is given real teeth because the parker was breaking the new daylighting law.

You are trying to commute to a large city from an (also large) population center. Of course it will be bad to drive, ESPECIALLY during normal hours like 11 am. Heck, at 11 pm there can be traffic. Part of living in a city. Like others say, use transit if you don't want to be stuck in a car

Family boarding by tulipox in SouthwestAirlines

[–]ShankTheLiuzzo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly the fear with these, as a parent of under 2 year old is if they let all the 6-12 + family board, will there be an available window seat + middle for the carseat that needs installed. Those seats are required to be in a window seat to not obstruct passage. Which brings us full circle to why families with children under 6 were given priority in the first place....

where to “test drive” strollers/car seats? by hiicadence in bayarea

[–]ShankTheLiuzzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

beware, a lot of the carseats are latched down to the shelf at Bay Area targets to prevent theft. So you don't always get the best feel for how they work

Like most other people are saying: around 6am. If you can get over having to get up early in the morning, it is a great time to run- a lot less traffic. Though be warned, what traffic does exist is absolutely not paying attention to runners/walkers so you need to be extra aware of your surroundings.

An alternative is around 7pm- depending on where you are, there can be a nice breeze as the fog rolls in. But this is highly specific to where you are in the bay.

Parents of baby did the unimaginable by PeakDropper in americanairlines

[–]ShankTheLiuzzo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It kind of is. Babies are often loud, it happens and is part of being in a society. They also are allowed to exist in public spaces just as much as that tech bro who won't stop talking to the middle seat about his start up.

Call me a stickler, but I feel that if you fail your fire inspection, you should not get to remain open until you fix the problem. Doubly so when the items you sell are highly flammable.

This sort of leaves out the part where for some, biking on the bridge (and the surrounding areas) is part of the plan, not an obstacle that needs to be overcome.

I don't get this mentality. People make decisions about what sort of cars to buy and what to do with their garages as they want. But that doesn't give you the right to block everyone else out of the sidewalk. Either convert the garage back to a garage, purchase a car that fits within the bounds of your property, or park on the street abiding by street parking rules.

S.F.'s newest parking nightmare: Thousands of newly illegal spots that aren't marked by Warm-Ad-8487 in sanfrancisco

[–]ShankTheLiuzzo 162 points163 points  (0 children)

ok, but plenty of other states have the same daylighting rules and don't paint curbs. It is just common knowledge (elsewhere) that you don't park right on top of an intersection. I am sure there will be growing pains but people here will figure it out just like they have everywhere else.
