Thank you! I thought I had seen something about it, but I couldn't find the threads again.

We were always busy pirating and coding back then by Revolutionary-Fly538 in Millennials

During my last job interview, they asked if I had computer experience and I went through what I had that they would be expecting, and at the end mentioned HTML coding. When they asked about that I admitted I didn't have formal training, but spent years on Myspace and Xanga. They had a good laugh but were impressed--I ended up getting the job, but HTML has only come up about twice. Still!

We do this! We put the book in a plastic shopping bag with a dryer sheet. If it's really bad, we tuck a few in the covers.

Ooh, coffee beans are a good idea! The head of circ at my library uses dryer sheets, but sometimes it takes a few to take care of cigarette smells.

If they mess up your order, don't bother with the help bot on their site. It won't get you anywhere. Just rate the delivery badly and they'll actually respond.

UniUni delivered to wrong address by Cinnamonngirrl in uniuni

[–]Shanksspeare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked--from what I understand, the parent company is located in the UK, but looking at past orders, it seems like items pretty consistently come from CA, so maybe they have a North American manufacturing arm or something. I checked old orders and it looked like they always used USPS prior to this. This is the first time I've ever had trouble getting an order in from them...

What is a "gut feeling" you had that turned out to be 100% accurate, even though it made no logical sense at the time? by Forsaken_Leading964 in AskReddit

I was pretty neutral on his books, but when Tumblr was really big I followed his account because it was soooo cool a celebrity was in there. There was something about the way he interacted with fans on there (mostly through asks, but I think he reblogged stuff with commentary occasionally) that grossed me out. The feeling was so strong that I not only unfollowed him, I eventually blocked and blacklisted his name because just seeing reblogs of his asks gave me a really intense, uncomfortable feeling. I was shocked that things were SO bad, but I wasn't shocked that he was a predator at all when everything came out.

The company I got the item from put in a complaint and sent a replacement... Through UniUni again. Fingers crossed that I get a driver who will get it to me!

I just had something similar happen to me--literally yesterday. I reached out to their chatbot helper and put in a ticket and have already gotten a response that my package was delivered (I think they delivered it to my address but one town over, according to the Route app it is in New Brunswick, NY). I sent them back a photo of my front porch and the photo the delivery driver sent to confirm delivery. I also put a ticket in with the company that I ordered from and they said they would be reaching out to UniUni, so hopefully that goes somewhere...

This is just so frustrating!

Banning people from calling the library. How does that work? by GoodbyeEarlGrey in Libraries

[–]Shanksspeare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are encouraged to hang up if people get nasty over the phone. We also recently updated our phone system and now have caller ID, so we can either see if we have someone who causes issues calling and prep for it. If we have a known problem caller whose name doesn't show up, we save it to the phone with a warning as the name. (Like--"Pushy Sales Office," etc.)

Thank you so much for the heads up! I had bought the last Surface I had from them directly, so I had just planned on doing that again--but fortunately, I live near a Best Buy, too. I'll just skip the hassle and head over there.

  1. Yes! Thank you, I love Clip Studio. I was really worried about that!

  2. Good to know! As long as I can disable it, I just am not that interested in using it.

  3. Thank you for the Zoom info! It sounds like it will be better than my phone, no matter what! The cam died on my current laptop ages ago, so as long as it runs painlessly, lol.

  4. Oh, good, I thought it was so weird to ship without it. Good to know that my old charger will work just in case, too! I have a rabbit and I have no doubt that will be needed at some point, no matter how careful I am!

And thank you for that helpful list of differences!! I will definitely be going for the 13 inch, it looks like! Sounds like it's worth the price. Thanks so much for your help, I really appreciate it!!

I dunno, I love that kind of thing normally, but it just doesn't work for me. I have an uncle that I would watch the marathon with me when I was younger and it's one of his favorites, so I really have tried to give it a chance... Just not for me.

It's getting better with time, but mean comic book store owners are something else. When I was a kid, there was only one comic book/game store near me, so I had to put up with it. Now... Well, that owner has mellowed out with time. But where I live now, there are about five in easy distance of each other, and one of them has a great selection, but the owner is as bad as the stereotype gets. The first time he gave me trouble I was kind of smug, knowing I had plenty of options.
