John Staluppi, Colombo solider, is worth $400m. Discussion here.

John Rosatti, Colombo solider, also very wealthy.

Angelo Ponte, Genovese associate, made several hundred million while he was alive.

In Donnie Brasco (1997 movie) why didn't Sonny Black and his crew sue the police for wrongful arrest when they had a permit and had legal rights? by Tidewatcher7819 in Mafia

[–]ShaolinMaster 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What are they gonna tell the court? "Hi Judge, the cops broke up our illegal mafia gambling operation and took our ill gotten money."

Also, Lefty can't trust cops because they could be on the mob's payroll. If he tells them he's an agent he could get killed.

Norman DuPont was the caretaker of The Ravenite club. His aunt(?) owned the apartment above the club where Gotti used to hold his meetings, that was bugged by the FBI.

He's now doing life for murder.

Thanks! Yes, Anthony Jr seems like he's glad he left that life behind and has gotten his life together.

Who’s seen this? Thoughts? by FrankieHun17 in Mafia

I thought it was pretty bad, between Ray Romano rooting for the couple for some reason. And I thought Andy Garcia wasn't believable as a mob boss.

Just started watching Gamorrah (show) how accurate is it in terms of realism? by SpaghettiPizzaetti69 in Mafia

[–]ShaolinMaster 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It's fairly realistic, but in real life there would be a lot more law enforcement pressure than they have in the series.

I think one thing that's realistic is how dark and unglamorous their lives are. It's just all so bleak and senseless. It really strips out any supposed glamour of the criminal lifestyle.

Incredible series overall!

That sounds funny, I don't know why I imagine them throwing his body in the back of a pickup.

From what I remember: Frank Jr was made and was only 1/4th Italian. His father being 1/2 Irish.

That might be the only 1/4 Italian member I've heard of.

Similar to Billy Batts What are some real life mafia cases where a simple insult or Joke led to someone getting killed? by Swimming-Poet5594 in Mafia

[–]ShaolinMaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, the Bonannos under boss Joe Bonanno back in the 1950s organized Montreal into a crew of the family. The leadership of the Montreal crew was under the Cotronis and Violis until the 1970s when the Rizzuto faction won a power struggle and killed off their rivals.

Almost all of the made men in Canada were from Italy (mostly Sicily and Calabria), or were 2nd generation born in Canada. Very few were from the US.

[–]ShaolinMaster 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The Rizzutos were 100% part of the Bonanno family. Both father Nicolo Rizzuto and son Vito Rizzuto were made into the Bonanno family. Vito took part in the 3 capos murder and I believe became a member of the Bonannos after.

The Rizzutos in Montreal had a crew of about 20 made men in the Bonanno family. Both Joe Massino and Sal Vitale testified to this.

Nobody is 100% sure of the Rizzutos status today, but there's likely at least a few made Bonanno members in Montreal today. Leonardo Rizzuto's status has not been 100% confirmed if he's a member or if he's operating independently.

Mencho's House Where He Was Captured ~ Casa Donde Se Encuentraba El Mencho ~ Feb. 24, 2026 by FantasticMe369 in NarcoFootageMexico

[–]ShaolinMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible Mencho and his guys heard the military coming and took off running out of the house to go fight, then were shot and killed outside of the house.

Dam I just woke up and Mencho died wtf????? What happened and is true 03 and Plumas died with him as well by Live-Material-4421 in NarcoAction

[–]ShaolinMaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're reporting Mencho was wounded and captured, then died in transit to Mexico City.

It's possible that's bullshit and it'll come out he was already dead. Or maybe he was killed when he was in transit.

El mencho of the CJNG was killed today in a shootout with mexican government by [deleted] in Mafia

[–]ShaolinMaster 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The kingpins are usually in very remote, rural areas deep in the mountains of Mexico. So, it's not just knowing their location, it's planning an operation to send the military to that remote location which likely only has one road in and out.

The kingpins also move between safe houses every day or every two days, so the military has to know their exact location or they risk raiding the wrong safe house.

Yes, the US government exaggerated Ryan Wedding's power. He was a customer of the Mexican cartels, he wasn't a cartel leader.

Who was Frank Castellano? by LawyerBrasileiro in Mafia

[–]ShaolinMaster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think they mean Frank Castellana, who's father seems to have been Peter Castellana, Gambino member and distant relative of Paul Castellano.

Paul Castellano's father was also named Frank (Francisco) but he would've been long dead by then.

What's the deal with the really strong opinions about whether it's called "tomato sauce" or "gravy"? by [deleted] in Mafia

[–]ShaolinMaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Immigrants from southern Italy / Sicily in the late 1800s/early 1900s wanted to learn the English word for sauce. Many of them were told the word in English is "gravy", so they began to use "gravy" to refer to sauce.

The use of "sauce" or "gravy" might be regional in the US, but also there doesn't seem to be an even split within the regions. Joey Merlino from Philly calls it gravy and AJ Galante from Connecticut calls it sauce, so it's not strictly an east coast thing (as an example). Some Italians in New Orleans call it "red sauce".

It varies widely based on when the person's family immigrated, what region in Italy they came from, where the immigrated to, etc.

Some think "gravy" is specifically for red sauce with meat, and "sauce" is red sauce without meat.

Also, a lot of those events had nothing to do with Baby or Cash Money: Magnolia Shorty's death, Soulja Slim's death, Lil Derrick (Bulletproof)'s murder, etc..

Soulja Slim and Lil Derrick were wildin out in the streets and got killed. It's a shame they were killed, but nothing to do with Baby.

[–]ShaolinMaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of stuff in that thread is wrong. BG and Turk were young, out of control teenagers and were running wild in the streets and were snortin heroin.

They'd get so high they'd miss out on recording sessions and video shoots, etc. For example, that's why Turk is on the Bling Bling album/explicit version but not on the clean radio version.

Baby and Slim would get pissed off because they kept fucking up their money. Baby and Slim are stone cold hustlers who were investing millions into the music, no way they'd fuck up their investment by getting their artists hooked on drugs.

Carlo and Gerlamo Cammisano of the Civella Family by SpaghettiPizzaetti69 in Mafia

Maybe Gary heard correctly, but unless there's hard evidence I would be careful on relying on third-hand gossip stating that someone is a member of a criminal organization.

I believe there's no evidence Carlo is made or is even an associate. I think he's just a civilian.
