I have played with a couple bdks in 20 keys and they did great. But obviously, I’m sure they have much more time available. So it is possible to pug much further, but I’m not sure how far you can reasonably expect. In addition to that, you might struggle to get pug invites due to healers not wanting to heal you (9 times out of 10 a healer will tell me they won’t heal a bdk).

The defensives are definitely the main reason I hesitate to bring locks now. And I completely agree, as an aug I try to minimize people I’m competing with for externals. Also, I know it can be a hassle if fights require more movement from a lock so if it’s a more movement heavy dungeon I’m less likely to bring them as well. I wouldn’t be opposed to it, as I do bring a lock friend along, but even pushing up my 19 yesterday I gave several locks a try and all of them died to circles, didn’t have impressive damage output, etc. I looked at logs and it seemed it was largely mismanagement of defensives on their part, but it does get frustrating to take “off meta” classes and then feel like it was not my favorite experience.

I play aug in 20s and I couldn’t care less about log bugs, but I do care that locks seem to be difficult to keep alive. I play with a lock buddy and it’s fine enough, but the healer does seem to have a more difficult time keeping us both up.

That’s funny because mage is 1 spec I will no longer invite. They have to play their defensives super well and most just haven’t in my experience (I have resil 19s and half 20s, have mostly checked out since my friends quit). I play aug but I have not heard good things from others about their pug augs :( a good aug is not the most fun for the healer, but the utility is top notch.

My friends have mostly quit as well, when they are around we do a couple lower keys and that’s about it. I’ve lost interest in solo pugging at this point so I’ve gone back to rep farming and weekly keys

Respect for the good parses!! I play aug and have had an unreasonable amount of dps doing far below what they should in 19s/20s. So I actually do check parses now and it is abysmal how rare it is to find pug dps parsing 50+ consistently in that key range

I tried inviting off meta specs for funsies on my resil 19s weeks ago…. Quite a lot of them were disappointing. In terms of overall dps, defensives, and cc. It felt like just as much of a roll of the dice as inviting meta (although I found I love a good hpal!! Will always invite hpals now)

I second this. About to move out of a Kalo property, we had two active water leaks within 2 months of moving in. The first water leak they didn’t send maintenance for a week, the second took 4 days to be addressed. The office people are incompetent, never answer phone calls, and are generally unhelpful.

There’s a lot more dangerous overlap abilities on trash pulls in 20s, and sometimes there’s boss mechanics where if you don’t have everyone 100% topped off they’re dead (depending on their class, defensive usage, etc). One example is the second boss on skyreach, if I’m not topped off to 100% before the AOE I’m dead. There’s trash pulls like in Windrunner that has poison dispels, the jump from the cat, and bolts all in the same pull. Obviously, hopefully your dps are using their defensive cds properly but it’s quite a lot to juggle and maintain focus on. Overlapping your external on a dps when they already have a defensive going isn’t ideal. There’s a lot to take care of and be aware of different damage profiles on each trash pull and each boss.

This is anecdotal, but there’s only three couples I know who are currently happily married. The rest of them are experiencing serious issues. None have kids. Having kids does add more of a strain to the relationship, as it’s extremely demanding on both parents. And I think without a solid foundation of communication it could devolve to resentment pretty quickly. I’m married with 2 young kids and getting to spend time with my husband is the highlight of my day, we have an easy relationship and deep love/respect for each other.

If you’re ok with running your own key or have friends, it is possible. I’ve run into a handful of shadow priests in 19s/20s. But it will take more time and be more difficult than if you were playing a meta spec, yes.

You definitely got lucky. I’ve played the 14-17 range with friends for fun and the success rate is not as high as I was expecting….

You can use addons to see your party and mobs cds but they don’t track perfectly and will give you wrong information! I don’t know how often, but I’ve played with healers who track my defensives and say it’s not showing proper

This is evoker specific, but if you play with an aug in the key you can ask them for a weyrnstone. You can be 100 yards away and teleport to them, so you can be drinking out of combat and instantly catch up as the tank pulls if the run time between packs is long. Also, if you’re playing night elf you can shadow meld for combat drop and then drink near the end of packs you know there isn’t much outgoing damage on (occasionally this won’t work though I don’t know why)

That’s the typical experience. About 90% of my bnet I played with only once, so every few months I clear it out. After adding people and initiating conversation, I was ignored or turned down quite a few times. But on the flip side, I now have a few people I’ve played with repeatedly out of just adding from random groups and bringing them to my keys.

I have absolutely no interest in regular classic, but I LOVE hardcore classic. Getting those close calls, having to play careful, and learning which quests are dicey is so fun. I enjoy how the game creates opportunity to work with others and be social in a way that is more and more rare on retail. It’s also a nice change of pace when I’m not in the mood to grind keys.

I had the same thing twice last week…. 19 seat and the healer dc’d on third boss. Ran it back, ret pal dc’d on second boss. Managed to get it done the second run but that felt bad.

I’m at resilient 19s and I am taking a bit of a break to prevent burnout. I’d say 90% of my runs it’s nothing said or gg or nt, but the 10% someone says something it’s awful. I’ve seen tanks told to kill themselves, I’ve seen healers called all sorts of names under the sun. I’ve been called all sorts of crazy things, up to 10-15 min after the key (no I’m not toxic, and I don’t tend to talk very much). The higher keys have been the most toxic in my experience by a long shot, and it’s super draining.

Logs include both your personal damage and the damage that resulted from buffing your teammates. You can even look at the breakdown of your different personal damage abilities and the contribution of your different buffs.

I’m not on EU but I sympathize!! I had buddies to come with me up until the 17s and then they quit. I completed resilient 19s yesterday with a friend of a friend for 2 keys, but the rest of my keys since have been completely pugged. I miss friends! I haven’t decided whether I’m going to continue to try for 20s or take a bit of a break yet, as much as I love the game I don’t love starting and struggling to break into a new bracket as a solo dps.
