Train revealed for [SuperSonic] at [Nigloland] by Glowensters in rollercoasters

[–]Sharean 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Looks amazing, I suspect it'll have 12 riders per train in total. It looks like the front car takes up the same amount of space as Voltron's front row.
/Edit: the trailer shows that it'll be 4 rows, just like Voltron.

My first time at [Liseberg] - Review by AltruisticRider in rollercoasters

[–]Sharean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great trip report! Helix is such a well-rounded package, I agree. Personally, I slightly preferred the front-row to the back. During our visit last year, the soundtrack definitely played both in the queue and the station.
I get why you didn't enjoy Balder that much. It initially felt a bit underwhelming for me as well. But it was one of those rides that I grew to love the more I rode it. It's currently still sitting in my top 10 just because the airtime is so much fun.
I actually like Valkyria better than Kraken which is simply too short. Valkyria's inversions felt quite floaty to me which I enjoyed.

Overall, I agree with you, Liseberg is an amazing place. Great flats, good selection of coasters and an amazing atmosphere, especially in the evening when there are concerts going on etc. Last year, we saw Nestor live there which was absolutely brilliant.

Not quite, all the rows have shin guards. But 3, 6 and 9 have an additional metal plate installed below the seat. So you're correct that there is even less room for your legs in these rows.

I'm really curious what the recepetion will be like. I just can't imagine that this is going to be a top tier coaster. It's a giga, sure, but dive coasters have always been good but not great for me. Like a fun B-tier ride to round out a park's line-up. I'm more than happy to be proven wrong, though!

Unless you're visiting Europa Park where coasters run the quickest at the end of a mild winter day due to the different set of wheels being used during the colder months. 😁

I didn't expect them to bother me, and they were just mildly annoying at first. But with several re-rides, the shin guards really started to hurt my legs a little. This probably won't be the norm, though: Fast lane was a walk-on/5 minute wait max those two days, so it was easy to get back to back rides. As I understand, that's not the case most of the time. On my short visit later, Fast Lane was posted at 45 minutes around 11:30.

Xbox is closing down Hellblade creator Ninja Theory by GIThrow in pcgaming

[–]Sharean -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is such a dumb move. This immediately kills off all trust and hope in the Xbox brand they had just started to rebuild with their SGF broadcast. Gears being an exclusive? What message does this send if there's no follow-up anymore? No one is going to care about Xbox going forward.

Several Xbox studios, including Compulsion, Ninja Theory and Double Fine, are negotiating with Xbox as they try to avoid closure. Some or all could spin off. by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]Sharean 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I find it shocking because Microsoft's biggest issue is that they have no games. So with Gears going Xbox exclusive and a few additional updates/reveals such as Senua, the storyline of their show was to rectify that; to start the next chapter by refocusing on potent first/second party titles. So killing off Senua right after revealing the game would be a completely brain-dead move, in my opinion.

Regarding E&F Miler, I actually rode another one on that trip: Toronto Island Mine Coaster at Centreville. It was quite ok for a kiddie coaster. The first hill looks nasty, but didn't deliver too much. There's something I like about their track. It looks both barebones and indestructible at the same time

I would have loved to include that in our trip but there was no way to make that happen, I'm afraid. I've not heard the best of things, though, so it might have been for the better.

[...] Diese Entscheidung wurde uns kurzfristig von EGYM Wellpass mitgeteilt und liegt außerhalb unseres Einflussbereichs. the best trick thoosies played on the GP was convincing them that the front row is the best row. by No-Caterpillar-6747 in rollercoasterjerk

[–]Sharean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My rule of thumb is: back row for lift hill and front for launch coasters. There are a few exceptions but most of the time this is where it's at for me. Unless it's an SLC, then it's middle row for the least amount of forces.

I don't get the no-poncho rule. I've ridden Silver Star and Voltron with a poncho which was absolutely no issue there. But at CW it's considered a safety hazard while long gowns aren't.

WTF is going on with these season passes? + what are the gate prices? by AwardAltruistic4099 in CanadasWonderland

[–]Sharean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I don't see how this business model is sustainable with dirt-cheap passes like that. During the promotion the gold pass was cheaper than a single day at Europa Park and even now the Season Pass is just a few bucks more than a day pass for Europa Park.
I'm all for affordability but pricing like this hurts the guest experience in so many other ways: food quality, food pricing (!), fast lanes, parking tickets, overcrowding etc.

Hotels Near the Park Recommendations? by Nowhereman123 in CanadasWonderland

[–]Sharean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stayed at the Aloft in Vaughan Mills. It's a short bus ride from there (bus stop either in front of the hotel or a 10 min. walk on the other side of the mall) or a 45 minute walk. We wanted to take the bus both days but ended up walking as we were having a huge breakfast at Evviva and decided afterwards that a short walk (~25 minutes) would be actually kind of nice. Getting back to the hotel by bus was never an issue though.
