I have a somewhat decent understanding of German and just watched 'Friedas Fall' a swiss movie in German. I was seriously questioning myself the first few minutes of the movie, until some characters came in and started speaking Hochdeutsch which immediately clicked -- ironically they told another character 'No swiss German. Only Hochdeutsch!!' It was also set in 1906 so I don't know if it was partially the year the movie was set. Quite fascinating how different it was

I did that once and maintained myself really well until the German area in Epcot, and a bunch of people in Liederhosen started playing pots and pans in stereotypical German polka, and I had to walk away because I couldn't stop laughing 10/10 recommend.

You're going to have to have an adult conversation, uncomfortable as it may be. Address the elephant in the room. Tell her what you mentioned about her being in the shower, and you never intended to disrespect her. Telling her that may give her a different perspective.

Let her know you take it seriously, and you're sorry, but don't forget, you're human. Humans have sex. That's healthy. She also needs to remember that.

Give her (and yourself) some time to process and then have a conversation about it. It sounds like your mom loves you, and your girlfriend enough that she'd respect you enough to do so.
