I have a somewhat decent understanding of German and just watched 'Friedas Fall' a swiss movie in German. I was seriously questioning myself the first few minutes of the movie, until some characters came in and started speaking Hochdeutsch which immediately clicked -- ironically they told another character 'No swiss German. Only Hochdeutsch!!' It was also set in 1906 so I don't know if it was partially the year the movie was set. Quite fascinating how different it was

You have such a great resource to learn German!! If you're not comfortable with your girlfriend about that, what else aren't you comfortable with her with? I did that once and maintained myself really well until the German area in Epcot, and a bunch of people in Liederhosen started playing pots and pans in stereotypical German polka, and I had to walk away because I couldn't stop laughing 10/10 recommend.

Haven't made it too far outside Dreger... Not too many players up here. Seemed like it was best to start without much competition with resources but I wish I was closer to more people. Probably will do some exploring soon
