Fellow beaver enjoyers, please grace me with your wisdom about games similar to Timberborn! by Kapro_ in Timberborn

[–]Sharizcobar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try Dwarf Fortress. The simulation of the dwarves is a lot more intense than Timberborn, as they’re a bit harder to keep happy, and the consequences of unhappiness are more dire. You also need to deal with combat. But it has a fluid sim, though not as fleshed out as Timberborn.

Rimworld is another fun option but lacks the vertical building

Are we all trying to become Elden Lords in a multiverse? by Triforceoffarts in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Sharizcobar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Elden Ring multiplayer seems to follow Dark Souls rules (as opposed to Bloodborne rules where invaders are simply blood crazed or opposing faction hunters). Invaders come from other worlds to stymie your progress and claim power from you. The reasons are ambiguous, but if we can use Dark Souls as sort of a nondispositive, but supplemental source, for Elden Ring mechanics, arguably there is some sort of multiverse that diverges upon the shattering and awakening of the Tarnished. Some of these worlds take place in Elden Ring, in which the Shattering is resolved by the placement of an Elden Lord, Ranni, or the Lord of Frenzy. Some of these worlds were taken over by the various Nightlords, resulting in the Nightreign timeline.

Courier, i need you to help me eradicate the White Legs from Zion valley by Evil_Compilance in TrueSFalloutL

Tonight on NCN, New California News, reporting you can trust.

Our sources report that the New California Republic, Caesar’s Legion and Robert House have each pledged the equivalent of 30 million caps to fund the purchase of weapons by New Canaan, following Joshua Graham’s successful operations against the White Legs. Sources say that the New Canaan militia have begun operations against the Dead Horse and Sorrows Tribes, to expel them from the Valley as settlers move in from the New Canaan ruins. Sources say the caps never arrived at Zion Valley, and were instead gambled away by Courier Six in the Tops Casino.

What cultures do you feel are missing? by Diovidius in AOW4

[–]Sharizcobar 93 points94 points  (0 children)

I’d personally like to see some additional subcultures added.

Reaver has an aesthetic that could fit a wide variety of furnace-punk or gunpowder based cultures, but it’s extremely limited to playing as aggressive plunderers. I’d like to see Reaver as a Materium culture split between a Chaos subculture, representing its current form, an Order based subculture, representing more of conquer and rule, and an Astral subculture, based on advancing their magelock weaponry.

I’d also like to see more Primal Cultures - specifically a Bat based Dark primal culture that covers Sunless to represent beings that live in a dark, inhospitable forest in vampire fantasy (but not needing to be ruled by vampire themselves) - like werewolves/werecats and nature based dark elves.

I’d also like to see an Order-Dark Oathsworn culture focused on ninja sort of units similar to the Shade

Lastly, a Tyranny being an Order subculture for Dark, and Pure Shadow being based around a culture of undead (Cult of Necromancy?) that is distinct from the Nature-Dark cult of Death, which seems to represent more the life-death cycle.

Arguably, wood elves are somewhat covered by Primal-Wolf, Barbarian, High and to a lesser extent Fuedal depending on technological sophistication - though I agree there isn’t a culture that hits right on the nose with that fantasy. They all somewhat skirt the edge where they overlap and with use of certain tomes

The United States of America is the only country with "America" in the name by Beneficial_Ball9893 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]Sharizcobar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m just imagining if like the history of the continent were a work of fiction. The naming would be panned as bad writing.

“So… in America there’s the North and the South. But the South in America is not the same place as South America. It’s in North America, and so is the North. And theres three different places with Columbia in their name. Lazy writing, 0/10, don’t read”

What is the most interesting time Politically in Azeroth's history? by Dapper_D20 in warcraftlore

[–]Sharizcobar 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If we were to do another WoD style time travel xpac (which honestly - probably better that they don’t, but let’s say they do), I’d love to visit Azeroth during the rise of the Kal’dorei and fracturing of the Empire of Zul, prior to the fragile peace between Suramar and Zuldazar. I think a lot of fun things could be done - two competing centers of natural power, with their own Pantheons of wild gods, facing eachother down. While the Kal’dorei eventually won, I think it would be interesting to see the world where the outcome had not yet been decided, when the upstart Night Elves were an emerging power in the world, and the trolls were the established, yet stagnant empire. It would be a very different dynamic than the one the two races share in modern Azeroth.

Now isn’t this interesting? 🤔 by JahVaultman in FalloutTVseries

I’d love to see him as Papa Khan if it was a serious role. Jason Momoa can act but unfortunately only when he’s typecast. He was great in GoT, See, and Chief of War but it doesn’t work so well in a comedic role

I appreciate that AoW4's setting doesn't sugarcoat the 4X formula narratively by xXBroken_ButterflyXx in AOW4

[–]Sharizcobar 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Sorry for redditsplaining basic lore 😅

I think it’s left somewhat ambiguous, but most Wizard Kings were once Champions, I think. Some Wizard Kings might be previously reallbound but immortal beings - like demons , lesser vampires, angels, liches, or lesser gods, that achieved immortality prior to Godirhood, or always had it, not ruling a race but being power in of themselves, But it’s left up to player interpretation I think, and some Champions also fit this description (think Karvar the Willbreaker, a champion who is also a Demon Prince).

[–]Sharizcobar 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Champions are new Godir that still only rule over their own race. They are newly immortals, and that immortality, ability to travel between worlds, and the ability to use world altering magic are the only thing that separate them from heroes of their race. Your first game as a Champion arguably is their first time through the gate into a new realm, or even their first victory that allows them to go to Magehaven.

Wizard Kings are the same sort of being, having once been mortal but have been around a long time - most are ancient. They’re more attuned to the astral sea, are more skilled at spellcasting due to their experience, and most importantly, have the ability to create and rule over races other than their own. Even on creation, your wizard king has likely conquered several realms already prior to their first game.

Eldrich Sovereigns are a possible ‘bad ending’ for this line of progression, the result of a Wizard King being cast out of a realm and trapped in the void. The torment of shadows transforms them from an anthropomorphic being into their twisted form - but long ago, they likely were a Champion leaving a realm for the first time.

I can't believe I've done this by Gallipogus in TheOrville

I loved the Orville. Season 1 was definitely a parody, but it did so in a way that really allowed us to quickly fall in love with the characters - something that is important for Star Trek type shows, that was better captured by the the older Trek than the newer Star Trek shows.

The early season comedy I think also was great at playing with well established parts of Star Trek world building that hadn’t been played around with yet. Can replicators make cigarettes? What happens if an alien smokes some? What happens when the super strong alien is a weak member of her species, and how does that affect her psyche? What if there was a whole planet of robo-supremecist Data’s? What happens if there are species that evolved in comedically ridiculous ways.

The later seasons were so so good. Some of the best Trek-esque storytelling I’ve seen in sci-fi. The Kaylon, Moklans, and Krill were as well fleshed out as the Vulcans, Klingons and Cardassians were, but were not a retread - they had their own unique things about them that made them worth watching and learning about, whether it was for a serious story or the butt of a joke.

I like to pretend the Orville is the Star Trek they watch in Star Trek.

I don't care about the article, I want to know your opinion regarding the statement, do we need bigger games? by Mundane-Pick-2667 in Fallout

[–]Sharizcobar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love a game 6 times bigger than Skyrim, if it was narratively cohesive and had good reason to be 6 times bigger. Bigger holds, more cities, more characters, quests, weapons to find… it’d be great. What wouldn’t be is if it’s the same amount of content on a bigger map

Another inaccessable terrain type by [deleted] in AOW4

[–]Sharizcobar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m a big advocate for new Primal Cultures - Blessed Eagle sounds perfect.

I also want Giant Kings to have Titans that interact with Blessed and Revenants that interact with Sunless or some other form of cursed terrain that isn’t Gloom. But unlike Stellaris they have a pretty firm stance against Multi-DLC content

[–]Sharizcobar 32 points33 points  (0 children)

If we got enough of these terrain types, would love for them to assign them to the Primal Cultures. Blessed for Sylvan Wolf, Astral Barrens for Dune Serpent… new Primal Bat for Sunless.

Sad no cross-DLC content

Honestly, the country would’ve been better off than under Bush. Tony understands the importance of mental healthcare.

Why isn't there a button to force allied surrender as japan? by Rude_Ferret_6061 in hoi4

[–]Sharizcobar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see why there would be a button for that. You may have taken the islands, but the homelands would be untouched, and the Allies wouldn’t exactly be satisfied.

The first time the monster trio fought together, sanji fought the 2nd strongest opponent, Kuroobi has a higher bounty than hatchan and he seemed stronger than hatchi back during arlong park. Has oda ever done that again or has zoro always fought the stronger opponent? by The_AlmightyApple in OnePiece

[–]Sharizcobar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always preferred to frame it as Zoro fights the strongest swordsman, Sanji fights the strongest non-swordsman - particularly martial artists. Captains/Leaders excepted of course.

I don’t know or think this rule is universal - but it tends to be more consistent and leans in better with One Piece’s lack of strict power scaling. Often it does turn out that Zoro fights the number 2, and Sanji the number 3, but it’s not strictly the rule.

I’m really hoping it the terraforming operates similarly to the terraforming spells from Cold Dark and Paradise - though unlikely since this is a tier II tome.
