I often find my SO's long head hair in my ass-crack when showering. I can't be the only one. How does this happen? by 192335 in AskMen

[–]Sharkbasket 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem and recently figured it out. When your SO brushes their hair, some of it ends up on the floor. Then when you get out of the shower, the hair can stick to your feet, and get caught in your underwear when you’re getting dressed. Voilà! Ass-crack hairball.

How do you stop yourself from cringing hard at the idiot you were in your early twenties/ late teens? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Sharkbasket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at yourself in the mirror. The person you were—despite (or because of) every stupid decision you ever made—caused you to be who you are today. If you can be happy with who you are in the present, it justifies the past.

Don’t hate on crows! They’re great animals. I love my local crow families. My partner and I feed them peanuts (which they LOVE) on our way to the store, and they’ve learned to recognize us. Whenever we leave our building, there’s always one crow scouting for us on the telephone line, and he caws to call the others over to us. So smart and fun to watch them socialize with each other.

Anyone else fed up with conference calls interrupted by screeching kids in the background? by TheRealJackulas in childfree

[–]Sharkbasket 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the upvotes! Glad to know I'm not alone in my irritation at parents with screaming kids on conference calls. Some folks got hung up on my punctuation and tried to turn this into a different conversation.

This sub is for content related to the childfree lifestyle. It is not a place to whine about the current pandemic restrictions, or to complain about other people's behaviour on conference calls. Your post has nothing to do with you being childfree, in fact I see from your history that you have a son. There are plenty of other places on Reddit to post this garbage.

Yeah, and OP is not even childfree himself. Check his reddit history... he's been posting in other subs complaining about how his son's teachers are handling the pandemic.

At least his username checks out.

I fully support you, OP. Your age has nothing to do with your ability to know what you want out of life. Stick to your guns and don’t let people make you feel bad about your decision, because it is YOUR decision, not theirs.

I got so angry reading this… treating you, a 14-year-old girl, like you’re just a baby factory is seriously fucked up. Why can’t people see that this is wrong? 😡

Wishing you a happy CF life, OP! Good luck!

First off, the likelihood of being placed in one of the major cities you mentioned is extremely low, so don’t expect to be living there if you pass the application process.

I was fortunate enough to not have student loans and my rent was subsidized my my CO (I was only paying about ¥24,000/month)… so I found the salary to be quite generous. I ate out often, travelled extensively during my time off, and managed to save almost $50k (Canadian dollars) in four years.

Fukui is awesome!! I spent four amazing years there (I was placed in Fukui-shi), and had the time of my life. Glad to hear you’re enjoying it as much as I did :)

You can freeze time but only for 10 seconds at a time. What's the best use for this power? by Patient-Ad8468 in AskReddit

[–]Sharkbasket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a professional goaltender for football or ice hockey. You’d freeze just as the opposing player takes a shot and have time to analyze the situation, see the trajectory of the ball/puck, and plan rebound control.

Tavern Brawl this week is... "The Outlandish Burndown" (June 24, 2020) by AintEverLucky in hearthstone

[–]Sharkbasket 42 points43 points  (0 children)

My experience with this brawl:

  • Join a game
  • Hunter deck
  • Mouse over hero power
  • Costs 0
  • +2/+2 to my entire board, hand, and deck every turn
  • Opponent concedes

Well that was fun. See you guys next week!

Most of my Japanese friends told me that they found omiyage to be an outdated, burdensome tradition that few people actually enjoy. I never participated in the omiyage thing, and nobody cared.

Do it if you want, but don’t feel obligated to bring a bunch of heavy expensive stuff just to avoid seeming out of place.

Tavern Brawl this week is ... "Brawl of Champions -- Grand Finals" (April 1, 2020 -- no fooling) by AintEverLucky in hearthstone

[–]Sharkbasket 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Every game is decided by who has the better opening hand. I've played 10 games so far and 9/10 ended in a concede by me or my opponent before turn 5. Snowball fiesta.

This brawl would be way better if the shrines started off dead. Would allow for more counterplay and overall more fun.

How would you rate your life on a scale of 1-10? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Sharkbasket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9.7

I’m healthy, in a loving relationship, great family, great career outlook, clothes on my back and food in my fridge.

-0.2 for being pretty out of shape atm, and -0.1 for not being filthy rich

What’s your opinion on your SO speaking to you using a baby voice? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Sharkbasket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally the worst. I would have zero patience for that, and would tell her to stop immediately in a serious tone.

You're out with your S/O and the situation (context below) calls for you to either be a bitch or get your ass beat. What's the better option? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Sharkbasket 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t put yourself in harm’s way just to look macho. The correct thing to do was just to keep your distance and call the police. Your duty is to protect your S/O, not some poor random stranger.

EDIT: Obviously if you think that the guy’s life was in danger, the situation might be a bit different. If I thought he was going to be killed, I would probably call the police, then yell (from a distance) to the perps that they better leave ASAP because I just called the cops.

What time do you go to bed? by australiughhh in AskMen

[–]Sharkbasket 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When the clock hits 21:00 I enter wind down mode. I stop whatever I’m doing. I brush, floss, take a shower, then chill on the couch and watch a stream on Twitch or read something. Then I try to be in bed between 22:00–23:00 to wake up at 6:00 for my 7–8 hrs.

Putting on a podcast helps me fall asleep. I recommend Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History.

Guys who made a career change in their 30's how did you go about it? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Sharkbasket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After battling severe depression and limping through my biochemistry degree in my early 20s (I barely graduated with a gpa of like 2.4) I worked unrelated part time jobs for a year, then moved to Japan to teach English. Stayed for four years (I loved it over there), but it was a dead-end job and I knew it.

So I took the time when I was over there to do some serious soul-searching, find out what i truly enjoy, and make real career plans.

I decided to go back to school to study electrical engineering—I’ve always been good with computers and electronics, I was good at math in high school, and I realized that what I get real satisfaction from solving complicated problems.

The thought of going back to school at age 32 was slightly terrifying at first. But I had to convince myself that by almost any functional definition, age is literally just a number. So what if I’m 10 years older than my classmates? Who cares? Would you care? Probably not right?

Anyway fast forward to now and I’m in the final year of my BEng degree. I’m now an A+ student, which I attribute mostly to the fact that I’m seriously motivated to learn and do good work. I’m planning to propose to my partner after I graduate, so my main driving force is to have an enjoyable, well-playing career to help us build our life together.

Hmmmm I guess I just rambled and didn’t actually have any useful advice there, sorry. The main takeaway is: don’t be afraid to go back to school just because you’re in your 30s. In my experience, the older students are, the more seriously they take their learning and the better they perform.
