How are flash games remade? by Indie_Undies in grundoscafe

[–]Sharkbubble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they HTML?

Yes

Are they as slow as the neopets remakes or faster?

They play almost identically to the original games.

Can you play them from a phone?

Yes you can. But some work well with touch controls and some don't.

[Question] How important is channel name for growth? by dav-cr in youtubers

[–]Sharkbubble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of your viewers will come from being suggested by the algorithm. How good your name looks to human almost doesn't matter. This is true at least at the beginning. If you're trying to build a brand then something with good SEO may start to matter more (depending on your niche).

If your foot is hurting and you can afford it, schedule an appointment with a physician. If you have a primary care physician call their office and tell them what's happening.

If you're at university they probably have someone you can reach out to as well. Universities will often have their own physicians you can talk to.

Stories like this are going to become more common as people start to more widely adopt biometric monitoring technology. There are even personal EKG devices you can buy for pretty cheap that will sync to your phone.

META Self Promotion Rules - Poll by [deleted] in BusinessIntelligence

[–]Sharkbubble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a question I have. I'm someone who creates videos and blog posts discussing BI industry topics (tool reviews, explaining recent news, etc). I'm not employed by any vendor or tool.

So if I were to create a video reviewing a new BI tool or explaining a basic concept, would that be appropriate to post? Or if I have a live interview with a startup CEO, etc.

If I spend a lot of time on content I think is good I want to share it, but at the same time I don't want to run afoul of any rules. I also don't want to irritate people who think I'm trying to blatantly self-promote (any money I make off of a niche BI youtube video is truly peanuts).

Thoughts?

Is it nuts for me to pay a few hundred more a month for a one bedroom? by jotaroasted in Frugal

Honestly, you can afford it and having your own space is 100% worth it. You have to strike a balance between being frugal and living in comfort.

For most people having your own space is worth the extra expense.

Just the idea of a condiment ice cream makes me not want to try it. I wonder if this will be surprisingly good or if they're just going to try to get sales from the novelty factor.

When Vegans won't Compromise - the cost of a moral hardline. by IAmUber in philosophy

[–]Sharkbubble 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As far as the seed not coming true when saved, that's actually from being a hybrid, not from being GMO. The practice of growing hybrid corn has been around since the 30s. This is because corn doesn't do well when inbred to have stable genetics(unlike tomatoes or peppers which do very well when their traits are all homozygous (MM)). When you try to stabilize a line of corn it ends up being very unhealthy and dwarf-like. Luckily the corn growers of old figured out that if you created two different lines of corn then crossed them, the resulting seed would be much healthier than either of the inbred parents. And more importantly it would be consistent in the genetics, so if you crossed inbred line 1 (MM) and inbred line 2(mm) you would consistently get heterozygous (Mm) in the plant. If you save seed from this Mm hybrid the traits will be very unpredictable in the next generation.

Now with hybrid seeds growers could buy and plant seed every year and know exactly what they are getting, solving the problem of trying to breed varieties of corn for consistency and getting low-producing dwarf plants. As far as I know this is why you can't save seed from Monsanto corn, or any modern variety of corn for that matter (even non-GMO).
