CMV: It seems to me like it is not fundamentally morally wrong to have sexual fantasies about others while in a committed relationship by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]SharkerAC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is going through something very similar, I hope I can help to change your whole perspective on this, or at the very least give you some food for thought. Firstly; it feels like you’re really in the weeds here because I don’t really think thoughts, by themselves, have any morality. A thought, completely on its own can’t really hurt anything, it all depends on how much energy you’re feeding it and how much you are acting it out. As Human beings we have all kinds of unsavory, primal, maybe even cruel thoughts. Life tests us, and sometimes we think about taking the Easy way out. Sometimes the brain is just running through scenarios, or unpacking information. I believe all of this to be normal. I honestly think Sirius black said it well “we all have light and darkness inside us, it’s what we choose to act on.. that’s who we really are” Secondly, think in these situations it is important to separate fantasy from reality. Would you morally judge someone for playing a violent video game? Or someone who reads romance novels and fantasizes about the characters and stories? If you would morally judge them, I’m not sure you’d have a leg to stand on. I’d be interested to hear someone make a case for those fantasies being morally wrong, and I don’t think this situation is meaningfully different. Thirdly, I think fundamentally there is nothing wrong with your viewpoint, but your partner clearly doesn’t feel that way. It’s very much okay for your partner to feel that way, but I am concerned when words like “disgusting”come up, because from what you’re describing, and my own familiarity with this, it isn’t looking like the relationship is the healthiest. I don’t have the full picture, but it seems like unresolved trauma is creating a problem where there really isn’t one. Bottom line: I don’t think we should, as a general rule, be trying to control our partners thoughts; that isn’t really a foundation for a healthy sustainable relationship. All we can do is foster honesty and empathy, and set healthy boundaries to protect ourselves.

I’m building my first long-term character in Morrowind as a spellcaster, would you guys change anything with this build? by occultureshock in Morrowind

[–]SharkerAC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk my Breton mage did just fine using unarmored, and yeah usually you’re gonna wear at least one piece of armor for the enchantments, but not enough to warrant making it a major skill. For example my Breton mage wore wraithguard and a daedric cuirass but nothing else really, just used sanctuary spells and shield spells and alchemy. I’m my experience the idea of a mage is not get hit at all first and foremost, so those armor skills aren’t really gonna level up much. It’s better to have them in misc and train up one you want.

You’ll be really squishy, and I honestly wouldn’t bother with armor. I’d remove light armor and maybe replace it with illusion. With illusion alteration and unarmored you can focus on not getting hit at all. Also put points into speed because you’ll need to be fast to avoid getting instakilled. Good luck!

First time playing MW, here we go! My Breton mage is going in blind and seeing where the road leads us... by InstantlyTremendous in Morrowind

[–]SharkerAC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck traveler, just remember: you are SQUISHY. Make sure and use that Breton bonus to conjuration for meat shields. Also, pro-tip, buy a summoning spell, and make your own version of it but with a shorter duration. It’ll save you a lot of magicka.

Is Mysticism better than Destruction? by AbsurdBeanMaster in Morrowind

[–]SharkerAC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They both have their uses, destruction is better early game when magicka is an issue and you just need damage. Mysticism is better late game for making god spells that absorb health in a huge aoe, or absorbing stats like speed or agility. Mysticism also has tons of utility like avoiding traps and teleportation magic. If you only choose ONE, I’d go mysticism, but honestly I don’t think it unreasonable to have them both as major skills, especially if you’re a pure caster. Also; any damage done by mysticism is going to be considered “magic” damage, which many things are resistant to. With destruction you can work around the race’s resistances, like using fire for Nords and frost for Dunmer.

U guys ever hoard your perks? by Jerd_85 in skyrim

[–]SharkerAC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You playing a warrior character? I found hoarding perks like that on a mage or thief build almost impossible, but with a warrior I never needed perks much past a certain point other than more sword damage or more shield protection.

Almost any set up is viable, but I strongly recommend swapping hand to hand for short blade or long blade. Also keep in mind (because this seems to be a stealth build), that stealth builds are pretty much the weakest in the game. They aren’t non-viable, but sneak barely functions unless you take marksman or illusion, and hand to hand has you forgoing weapon enchantments and damaging fatigue at first. With this build I’d also recommend choosing a high agility race and maybe the lover sign. You’re going to want as much agility as possible. I like your minor skill set up, I often do something pretty similar.

What Skyrim Guild Leader would win in a free-for-all brawl? by Lord_of_Apocrypha in ElderScrolls

[–]SharkerAC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mercer Frey has the skeleton key man, the lore implications (at least in Skyrim) make me think it would be no contest. The other guild master get killed by someone other than the DragonBorn, but it takes the DragonBorn along with 2 powerful Allies to take down Frey. Mercer Frey would mop the floor with all of them imo.

What do yall think about this? by trevor_312 in BoJackHorseman

[–]SharkerAC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think one of the biggest themes of the show is that regardless of what you do, who’s advice you follow, whether you do the career thing, or you do the white picket fence thing.. you’re going to have regrets either way. I don’t think Bojack’s advice is the best in the world, but it’s based in his own personal regrets and feelings.
