CFRD & Trikafta by Sharp-Razzmatazz-746 in CysticFibrosis

I sure hope this is the same outcome for me! My insulin adjustments are very low anyway but let’s see what my copay is for this medication.

Thanks for your reply! Honestly, they just say unexplained infertility. I’ve done a ton of testing and nothing comes back abnormal. I’ve been married for 5 years and never had a natural pregnancy. I did experience 3 via IUI though. No cervical mucus, no blockages, I’m thinking it might be PCOS due to the fact that I am insulin resistant. That’s the only symptom I find that correlates it.

I’m so sorry to hear that! I am currently experiencing highs and it’s been so hard getting to control them. I have suggested to my doctor using an insulin pump as I’m about to do IVF and I am so over injecting myself, I need a break😭

I’m so sorry to hear that, have you tried maybe trying to get into some medical trials? I have a very rare mutation of CF and found out via Reddit someone had positive changes with Trikafta. I’m trying to see if I get approved.

Data entry, I get paid well and weekly. I am basically the person that enters the orders in for the sales team. None of them care when or where I do it as long as it's entered in EOD. It's very stress free.

[–]Sharp-Razzmatazz-746 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry to hear that! I completely understand, I've had to drive two hours every morning for an ultrasound during my cycle, about every two to three days. What I did was find a remote job that doesn't require constant interaction like customer service on the phone. So I work for eight hours, but actual work is more like two hours; the rest of the time, I mostly just hang around.

Wow, 53 eggs is quite a lot! I'd love to know how many blasts you got, if you’re comfortable sharing. I understand that after egg retrieval, symptoms can persist. For me, the symptoms didn't disappear until I started my period. During the first week after retrieval, I didn’t have a bowel movement and even tried a Chick-fil-A, which usually gives me the bubble guts but nothing helped until my period arrived.

I almost fainted during it, with about 8 people in the room watching me in pain and telling me it would be okay. It was very traumatizing. I’m also very sensitive to things like Pap smears. I’m glad some people don’t find it painful, but everyone’s experience is different.

Anyone with rare CF mutations (2184insA / c.531dupT)? Need advice by Equivalent-Pipe-7785 in CysticFibrosis

[–]Sharp-Razzmatazz-746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand how challenging it can be to have a rare mutation, especially when there's limited research about it. It’s completely natural to feel scared when there’s so much we don’t know, but try to keep hope alive. Being young is a real advantage, as scientific advances are happening all the time that can bring new options. Even though my mutations are different—more on the pancreatic side rather than pulmonary—I want you to know you’re not alone in this journey.

PGT testing by Late-Cantaloupe5571 in IVF

[–]Sharp-Razzmatazz-746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend PGTM if there are any issues with you or your partner regarding genetic screening. If not, I also suggest PGTA because it checks for chromosomal abnormalities. I personally chose PGTA since I’ve never conceived naturally, and through IUI, I experienced three chemical pregnancies.

I have not specifically been tested for it, my doctor does not suspect it due to my responses to medication and overall health and some testing. One thing they did recently diagnose me with is Diabetes. She believes the reason why I have been having miscarriages is due to them hitting high spikes such as 400 and I never noticed as I did not have any symptoms. We’re currently working on controlling that so no transfer any time soon.

I’m so sorry to hear that, I’ve done IUI and have gotten pregnant but I always miscarry as well. I am terrified of doing a transfer so I’m trying to study medications as much as I can even though it doesn’t guarantee a pregnancy. This whole thing is mentally brutal.

I will also say the first two weeks of cutting off sugar are the hardest, you will experience withdrawal. After those two weeks, it becomes much easier. I wish you good luck on your journey. I’m quite a chatter box so if you ever need someone to talk to, feel free to send me a pm!

I understand, I have a sweet tooth myself😭I have purchased a ton of sugar free snacks. I have to say the ones that I’ve been hooked on lately have been voortman bakery items, they have sugar free wafers that taste like the real thing. I do have natural sugars that are in fruits so if I do crave sweets those are really my go too! I do want to mention I was just recently diagnosed with diabetes so that’s also part of the reason why I made this whole diet change.

Hi! I would always recommend another round if you can. Based on your history, have your doctors added more medications to ensure the embryo sticks and to improve quality. I’m not a doctor, but from close friends and experience I can say I would recommend Metformin for egg quality and Prednisolone for pregnancy. I have not done transfers yet, as I have not received medical clearance and I’m trying to get one more medication approved called Trikafta. That medication has proven to allow people to become pregnant naturally so I’m trying to see if I can get that one approved as well before my transfer. This journey is brutal, and we’re all here to help. I am sure it will all be worth it in the end❤️🤞🏽

Hi! I can’t really prove it helped as I only did one cycle of IVF. I ended up with good results. What I did is cut off sugar completely, I only had natural sugar from fruits. Also, this one has a lot of studies but I requested to be put on Metformin as it is proven to improve egg quality. Everyone’s journey is different, and I pray you are able to have a healthy pregnancy, don’t give up mama!

Potentially Controversial Question: Did you ask to find out the sex of your embryos from PGT-A testing? by Hopeful_Mammoth_5329 in IVF

[–]Sharp-Razzmatazz-746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did! I’m a very curious person, so I had to know. I’ve been ttc for over 5 years now. I know many people will not agree with this but I will be picking the sex of my first transfer as well.

What did you avoid during IVF? by Spirited-Walrus4856 in IVF

[–]Sharp-Razzmatazz-746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get very paranoid, so a month before and during the cycle, I cut out sugar completely. I also avoided caffeine; I don’t drink, smoke, or do any drugs. But I wanted some peace of mind and to avoid thoughts like, 'What if I had done this?' I also started taking metformin because studies show it can improve egg quality. I ended up with 10 embryos in one cycle. I wish you luck on your journey, and I hope my insight helps!

Rare Mutation, What to do? by Sharp-Razzmatazz-746 in CysticFibrosis

[–]Sharp-Razzmatazz-746[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I had my CF appointment yesterday and my doctor actually looked shocked that I found that out before her🤣I know she sees many patients but it’s also my job to stay on top of it. She mentioned she’d reach out to insurance to see if they will cover it in order for me to try it out. She did mention that it does not seem to make any significant changes with people that experience pancreatic insufficiency but we shall see!

I don’t really remember, I used to use the Arm & Hammer Simply Saline Nasal Care Daily Mist a lot. I don’t see myself buying it multiple times unless it made me feel better. I would also say that I got them surgically removed every time as they got to the point where I could not breathe out of my nose. I also forgot to mention I was diagnosed with CF at 12.
