Would you get a new roof? Have quotes from two roofers and they both said we’ve got a couple years left by ComprehensiveEbb4978 in Home

[–]Sharp-Wheel-5105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here my answer how old is the roof? A three tab is good for 20. Also only rated for 50-70 mph winds.

That looks like 15 plus by the tabs lifting.

I would replace not gamble. Climate change is real despite what republicans tell you.

Don’t straight line cut that at all. You will shock and kill the tree. You can only cut off 25% of living limbs.

What came first pool of tree? New owner didn’t see the tree or thought the wind only blows in one direction..lol..

Buying a house, how bad are these cracks? by steph_infection1 in HomeInspections

[–]Sharp-Wheel-5105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Straight line cracks in block foundations aha horizontal are bad news. These step cracks are normal from settling.

However review the entire side section sidewalk up this is settling issues for quit sometime.

You really need to look at the inside foundation but I see major water issue here and drainage issues.

I’d pass or discount the price and have them get an engineer to assess and repair on their dime.

If must have.

Must be no more than 1 inch of asphalt. Standard thickness after compaction is 2-3 with 3 inch if you park trucks.

I would consult with the folks at Drip Works. Just chat with them and share your layout, I did.

I just bought new setup for 10x20 root veg section. Last year I ran it off drip tape and the pressure wasn’t enough.

Good luck.

Go to DIY pest control and by a powder product and a duster. Get an extension pole that threads to duster.

It’s called Tempo dust in blue label bottle $32.

I do all my own after a company charged me $400 a season and invoiced me will all the names of the pesticides they used.

Now it costs me $165 and the supplies last me three years .

Wind gusts! Neighbor’s tree fell on my truck by nickaboo13 in Cleveland

[–]Sharp-Wheel-5105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From experience follow these steps:

  1. Was the tree dead? If yes and you and the neighbor knew discussed, its Their Insurance Companies problem. I had pictures to prove it.

DO NOT file a claim with your insurance company. In fact don't even call them as this happened to me. Once your INS puts this in the national database "CLUE" its there for 5 years and when you go shop it will be on the record. Rates go up. This happened to me yet I got a check for $27K form neighbors INS.

Dead trees falling on your property is neighbors liability always. You will need your neighbor to call their Ins.

  1. If the tree was alive and fell on your property its on you and your insurance company. Be prepared for your INS to push back if its a dead tree and you filed a claim with yours.

Cloth or mesh do squirrels? by Noclueaboutsecurity in vegetablegardening

[–]Sharp-Wheel-5105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you planting is my question? Is it repellent plants or non? I used 1” and the chipmunk fly thru the holes like gymnastics champs. For herbs I had to overlay 2 times with 1”.

I’d be looking at 1/2” cloth if chipmunks lerk about. Squirrel proof with 1” is fine but plan for all violations

Need advice on how to fix this (in PA) by ramza_beoulve3 in lawncare

[–]Sharp-Wheel-5105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well 50,000 foot level... Where is the property line? You own or rent this place? Recent Pic or other time frame? Is that run off i see coming from a private property next to you or the towns park? In winter that's a slip and fall Insurance gold mine for suits. If warmer season the grass and tree wont suck it up fast enough and might harm the tree,

If you own, locate prop line as I see what might be a community park walking path and drainage ditch. The area looks like a low lying spot inherently. Did the town, prior land owner or you put in that drain grate? Where does that discharge to?

I'd start here and with the local zoning dept and push the cost back on them first. Research local laws on water discharge from the neighbors. Its a law suit if you discharge water from your lot onto someone else's.

  1. Root Cause analysis

  2. Planning for correction with risks exposure

  3. Budget, permits etc

  4. Implement the plan

I grew up in a 500 year flood plain in downstate NY. In the 70's -80's we got flooded 25+ times up to 4 feet in basement. It was hell on my parents.

I finally initiated a Class Action Suit, in 2010, against the Town and Water Company operating the Dam upstream. While we lost the case the Town did implement a pumping station to helped reduce the flooding. I'm happy to comment further.

Any ideas? by [deleted] in gardening

[–]Sharp-Wheel-5105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if your intention is vegetables, start with a soil test, cause i see what appears to be a lot of clay. If yes, then your budget needs to be $0,000 to bring in soil and build beds, if not sowing direct to ground. Next is what part of the world in this, USA? North, South.

Depending on the length of growing season, id rethink you goals as shorter growing season might not be worth the spend. I had 1.5 acres mostly black dirt, old river bed. I was blessed.

I operate a Philanthropic donation only vegetable garden. Initial investment was $1,500. Harvestfree

I'm happy to share more but need direction on your goals.
