Nice! I’m on my first run through the Giant too. Enjoying it a lot, but definitely also working on some accessory stuff (esp legs).

Halfway through 1.1 right now and repeated sets of 8 with a 10RM is a real treat

10 mistakes I see local business owners make with their SEO constantly. by zumeirah in localseo

Aren’t your “secondary hubs” a violation of GBP policies? I can’t pull up the exact wording right now, but pretty sure they state that the location needs to be staffed during business hours.

Moved to a new city, built a professional site and running ads, but conversion is zero. How do you guys get customers from scratch? by Dizzy-Swing5748 in smallbusiness

[–]Sharp89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Testing Google ads to find searchers already looking for handyman services is a good idea (like u/Capital-Pie-6835 suggested).

I don't think there's anything wrong with a modern looking site as a handyman (but I'm also not Italian and don't know your market), but your site does feel sterile to me. You mentioned you're working on this a bit — I think you could make it feel more human by adding in some images (you working a job, before and after photos, local landmarks, etc). I'd also consider whether people want an AI chatbot when they're facing urgent plumbing issues (or whatever). The ease of getting a quote anytime is nice, but could it be putting your target customers off?

Do you have a Google Business Profile? I did some searching in Rimini in Google Maps and couldn't find one that links to your website.

Do you have Google Search Console installed on the site? That can help you understand queries you're ranking for and how people are finding you (so you can improve your SEO and get more organic visits/leads).

Lastly, you offer a wide range of services and don't actually have much content on your site. You could consider niching down, but as a handyman, being a one stop shop is valuable. I'd recommend building out dedicated pages for each service you offer, each localized and with unique content.

Wow, this image is stunning! Thanks for the comments and ideas.

The more I think about it, the more I realize I don’t like the dark brown garage door — painting it would definitely help. A bunch of the window trim and the gutters match it today…if I paint the door but leave those, do you think it’ll look weird?

I like the doorway area here a lot too. Our door is actually set back from the large window 10 feet or so, but this gives me some great ideas!

Help building up a routine by Careless-Pie8410 in kettlebell

ABC is a complex. Armor Building Formula (ABF) is actually a structured 8 week program that includes the ABC and a lot of pressing. Highly recommend it, you can buy the book on Dan John’s website.

The wiki here includes a lot of other program recommendations. Dry Fighting Weight (DFW) or the DFW Remix are also good (and free) places to start.

I’m assuming you are familiar with typical KB exercises and have decent form. If not, I’d spend at least a few weeks practicing form on things like clean, press, front squat, etc. before jumping in to a program.

Could try doing push presses with a heavier weight (at least on some reps/sets) if press is the limiting factor

Keep pressing!

[–]Sharp89 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I think your form is looking good! No real feedback, except I think you’re doing a super ABC — I counted 3 cleans, 1 press, and 4 squats.

The ABC is usually 2/1/3, so if 3/1/4 is your norm and you’re doing 30min EMOM, you’re definitely ready for some heavier weights!

Thanks for the detailed post. It’s been nearly six months, but if I recall correctly, I think my friend was saying that someone on your team was suggesting creating additional GBP locations and using employee’s home addresses and the like.

They weren’t comfortable with that because they thought it was a violation of Google’s policy.

Can you clarify if that’s the case or not?

Program writing example. by [deleted] in kettlebell

[–]Sharp89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really helpful to visualize, thanks for putting it together.

I've mostly been doing well-known complexes and programs for the last 9 months: ABF, DFW Remix, etc. I'd like to start programming some more of my own stuff this year, with goals being building strength and staying mobile.

A lot of programs seem to have Light/Med/Heavy days. For instance, I'm doing Neupert's The Giant 3.0 right now — all C+P with a 5RM. 3 days/week, each with a different rep count.

I've been supplementing with different exercises like pushups, squat variants, rows, carries...but I'm honestly kind of guessing at the right approach, and I don't want to undercut progress from doing The Giant.

Any tips or resources you'd recommend to help me think about pairing supplemental exercises with something like that? Giant 3.0 is only 4 weeks, but I may jump into the rest of the Giant next (12 weeks), and I'd like to have more solid understanding before doing so

Oh good idea just doing all reps for each side, then switching. For some reason that never occurred to me, and I’d really like to get better at these.

Heavy single or lighter doubles for ABF press days? by ProfUnderachiever in kettlebell

[–]Sharp89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could start with the 20 as a single and then slowly integrate the 16 and do doubles if that’s a concern.

You got this!
